My Top Ten Books of 2025
It’s hard to believe another reading year has come to an end! While it was not my best year, it was still full of memorable books that stuck with me—so here are my 2025 top ten books!
This year was a different reading year for me. I re-read more books than usual, my reading pace was slower, and my motivation was low. But I still managed to discover and rediscover stories I absolutely loved. And honestly? That still feels like a win to me.
I read a mix of young adult and adult fiction throughout the year, and I read more non-fiction than usual. I just hit my Goodreads reading goal of 50 books and failed miserably at my other reading challenges. Overall, it was a decent reading year—so I can’t complain.
As I look ahead to this year, I’m really excited to reset and refresh. I plan to take on the Popsugar Reading Challenge and the Buzzword Cover and Reading Challenge (hopefully I do better this year!). I’m also hoping to check off more prompts for the A-to-Z Reading Challenge.
I’m excited to see where my reading takes me next! But first—here are my top ten favourite books from 2025, in no particular order.

Top Ten Favourite Books of 2025

Be Ready When the Luck Happens by Ina Garten
Who doesn’t love Ina Garten? I’ve always been a fan, but this memoir made me appreciate her even more. Her determination, confidence, and calm outlook are so inspiring, and I loved learning about the path that led her to where she is today. This was such a comforting, motivating read, and I’ll definitely revisit it whenever I need a little encouragement. If you haven’t picked it up yet, I highly recommend it—and her podcast episode on Good Hang with Amy Poehler.

Every Summer After by Carley Fortune
This was a re-read for me, but choosing it as a favourite this year just solidifies it as an all-time favourite. Sam and Percy’s story still completely wrecks me in the best way, and I can already see myself re-reading it every summer at the cottage. I’ll never get over this book—and I can’t wait to see how it translates to the screen when the adaptation is released. If you haven’t picked this one up yet, consider this your sign!

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
Another re-read, and it’s still just as epic. The action, the romance, the tension—it all works perfectly for me. This series has everything I want in a fantasy, and I loved being swept back into the world. I still need to read Onyx Storm, so there’s a very real chance I’ll re-read this again.

Maid for Each Other by Lynn Painter
Lynn Painter is one of my all-time favourite romance authors, and while this isn’t my top book of hers, it was a fun, easy read. Her lighthearted humour and swoony romance always hit the spot, and this one was perfect for a year when reading felt a little harder than usual. Cozy, funny, and exactly what I needed.

One Golden Summer by Carley Fortune
This was the book of the year for me—my absolute favourite. Getting more of Charlie and watching his story with Alice unfold was so incredibly satisfying. This book lingered with me long after I finished reading, and I already know it’s going to be a yearly re-read alongside Every Summer After. Everything about it worked for me. I think Carley Fortune is just one of my all-time favourite authors.

Save Me by Mona Kasten
After becoming completely obsessed with the Maxton Hall TV series, I was so excited to finally read the books — and they absolutely lived up to my expectations. The story, drama, romance, and characters all feel exactly like the first season of the show, making it a great adaptation. I flew through this one and loved every minute. I still need to read the third book, but I have a feeling I’ll love it.

The Favorites by Layne Fargo
This was a book club pick early in the year, and it lived up to the hype. I loved the documentary-style storytelling, the sharp dialogue, and the intense competition woven throughout the story. The writing kept me hooked, and I would love to see this adapted for the screen.

The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
I’m slowly working my way through Kristin Hannah’s backlist, and this might be my favourite so far. It was emotional, gripping, and incredibly addictive — full of moments that felt both expected and surprising. This is another book that stayed with me long after I finished it. I heard this one is getting an adaptation as well, and I’m really looking forward to seeing that!

Till Summer Do Us Part by Meghan Quinn
I love Meghan Quinn, so it’s no surprise one of her books made this list. This one was silly and cheesy in the best way, with laugh-out-loud moments. The banter is great, the situations are ridiculous and fun, and it was the perfect summer read when I just wanted something light and guaranteed to make me smile.

Wild Love by Elsie Silver
Another re-read this year—and I loved it just as much the second time. This was my first Elsie Silver book, so it’ll always hold a special place in my heart. I adore the writing, the characters (Cora is forever my fave), and the overall story. It’s a strong start to the Rose Hill series and an easy recommendation for romance fans.

It’s great that you hit your Goodreads goal! I read less than usual in 2025, too.
I just managed to squeeze it in! It sounds like that was a big consensus for 2025. Here’s hoping we have a better reading year in 2026!
Someday I should read Fourth Wing.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
It’s really great in my opinion! I still need to read Onyx Storm—and I didn’t love Iron Flame as much as the first book, but it’s a really solid fantasy series so far!
Good luck with Popsugar! The challenge seems so specific this year so I have my doubts about completing it, but it’s fun ticking the prompts off anyway.
It’s very specific this year! I’ve never been able to complete the challenge. I usually just read and then see what books hit prompts and tick them off throughout the year. Either way, it’s fun ☺️ Happy reading!
One Golden Summer was really surprising for me, I didn’t expect to fly through it in a breeze since I find this author’s books becoming increasingly formulaic.
And Maxton Hall is great! I just couldn’t put those books down.
