December 2025 Reading Wrap Up

How is it the last day of the year? I can’t believe I’m sharing my December 2025 reading wrap-up!

I’m always amazed at how quickly time flies when I sit down to write another wrap-up. But I’m always excited for the December reading wrap-up because I’m inching towards a fresh start. I love that reset that comes with the beginning of the year—especially when it comes to books!

My reading this year has been all over the place. I’ve had my slowest reading year in a long time but I still managed to hit my Goodreads goal by the end. I failed miserably at my reading challenges—both the Popsugar Reading Challenge and the Buzzword Reading Challenge fell by the wayside this year.

But I can’t complain because I had a really full year of laughs and memories that took the place of some of my reading year! It really was a great year for me, and I’m excited to see what 2026 brings.

In December, I read nine books—all 2025 releases. With a mixture of non-fiction, fiction and novellas, this month was a really great way to wrap up my reading year!

Be Ready When the Luck Happens by Ina Garten. One of my favourite books of the year—and honestly, how could it not be when it’s Ina Garten? She’s just the most incredible person. I loved her outlook on life, her determination, and the way she reflects on the experiences that shaped her. While I was already a fan of her TV shows, this book gave me even more reason to be a fan. Even if you’re not already a fan, there’s so much to admire and learn from this memoir. I highly recommend it!

Over the Influence by Joanna “JoJo” Levesque. Since I was in a non-fiction mood, I decided to pick up another memoir. I jumped into this one knowing only a bit about Jojo from her music and her early acting days (Aquamarine was a fave as a kid!!). It was a really interesting and honest look at child stardom, especially because she doesn’t shy away from moments when she doesn’t come out looking perfect. It’s an engaging and thoughtful memoir that really gave me more insight into her life.

Good Spirits by B.K. Borison. This was my book club’s December pick, and while I enjoyed it, it didn’t quite wow me the way I’d hoped. It also seemed to be the overall consensus among my book club. It felt a little quiet overall, but it was a cozy, enjoyable Christmas romance and nice for the time of year. It’s not a new favourite for me, but it was still a nice seasonal read.

Merry Christmas, You Filthy Animal by Meghan Quinn. I’m a huge Meghan Quinn fan, so this holiday romance was a must-read—and it was SO fun! Yes, it’s cheesy in places, but that’s exactly what I needed this month—laugh-out-loud moments, emotional depth, and genuinely fun characters. The Home Alone nods were really well done, and I think I enjoyed this one even more than How My Neighbor Stole Christmas. I’m already counting down to her next Kringletown release!

Snow Place Like Home by Laura Pavlov. On Christmas Eve, I curled up with this year’s Amazon Christmas novellas, and this one was my first Laura Pavlov read. It was cute and cozy—nothing groundbreaking, but it definitely hit the spot for a quick holiday read. A nice introduction to Laura Pavlov, even if it didn’t leave a lasting impression.

Merry and Bright by Ali Rosen. Another author I hadn’t read before, but this ended up being my favourite of the novella series. It was light, sweet, and surprisingly well fleshed out for such a short read. Just an easy, enjoyable holiday romance that perfectly captures December’s vibes.

All Wrapped Up in You by Rosie Danan. I’ve read Rosie Danan before and really enjoyed her books, and this novella was no exception. It was cute and cozy, and ended up being my second-favourite in the series. Once again, it was exactly the kind of light holiday read I was looking for.

You Better Not Pout by Mia Sosa. I’ve enjoyed Mia Sosa’s books in the past, and this was a solid, pleasant read. It didn’t blow me away, but it was cute and enjoyable. Overall, the novella series is a fun idea—even if it’s not one I see myself revisiting.

Fake Skating by Lynn Painter. I love Lynn Painter, and she absolutely delivered with her newest young adult release. It has all the witty banter and humour I expect from her books while still feeling fresh and fun. I enjoyed every minute of it—and I’m already counting down the days until her next release.
