Rick Riordan presents Daniel Josรฉ Older’s music-and-magic-filled YA urban fantasy about two teens who discover each other and their powers during a political battle within a diaspora community.

Almost sixteen years ago, Mateo Matisse’s island homeland disappeared into the sea. Weary and hopeless, the survivors of San Madrigal’s sinking escaped to New York.

While the rest of his tight-knit Brooklyn diaspora community dreams of someday finding a way back home, Mateoโ€”now a high school junior and piano prodigy living with his two aunts (one who’s alive, the other not so much)โ€”is focused on one thing: getting the attention of locally-grown musical legend Gerval. Mateo finally gets his chance on the night of the Grand Fete, an annual party celebrating the blended culture of pirates, Cuban Santeros, and Sephardic Jews that created San Madrigal all those centuries ago.

But the evil that sank their island has finally caught up with them, and on the night of the celebration, Mateo’s life is forever changed when he witnesses a brutal murder by a person he thought he knew.

Suddenly Mateo is thrust into an ancient battle that spans years and oceans. Deadly secrets are unraveled and Mateo awakens a power within himselfโ€”a power that not only links him to the killer but could also hold the key to unlocking the dark mystery behind his lost homeland.

One summer. Two rivals. A plot twist they didnโ€™t see coming โ€ฆ

Nora Stephensโ€™ life is booksโ€”sheโ€™s read them allโ€”and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.

Which is why she agrees to go to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina for the month of August when Libby begs her for a sistersโ€™ trip awayโ€”with visions of a small town transformation for Nora, who sheโ€™s convinced needs to become the heroine in her own story. But instead of picnics in meadows, or run-ins with a handsome country doctor or bulging-forearmed bartender, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor from back in the city. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that theyโ€™ve met many times and itโ€™s never been cute.

If Nora knows sheโ€™s not an ideal heroine, Charlie knows heโ€™s nobodyโ€™s hero, but as they are thrown together again and againโ€”in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allowโ€”what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories theyโ€™ve written about themselves.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black makes her stunning adult debut with Book of Night, a modern dark fantasy of shadowy thieves and secret societies in the vein of Ninth House and The Night Circus.

In Charlie Hallโ€™s world, shadows can be altered, for entertainment and cosmetic preferencesโ€”but also to increase power and influence. You can alter someoneโ€™s feelingsโ€”and memoriesโ€”but manipulating shadows has a cost, with the potential to take hours or days from your life. Your shadow holds all the parts of you that you want to keep hiddenโ€”a second self, standing just to your left, walking behind you into lit rooms. And sometimes, it has a life of its own.

Charlie is a low-level con artist, working as a bartender while trying to distance herself from the powerful and dangerous underground world of shadow trading. She gets by doing odd jobs for her patrons and the naive new money in her town at the edge of the Berkshires. But when a terrible figure from her past returns, Charlieโ€™s present life is thrown into chaos, and her future seems at best, unclearโ€”and at worst, non-existent. Determined to survive, Charlie throws herself into a maelstrom of secrets and murder, setting her against a cast of doppelgangers, mercurial billionaires, shadow thieves, and her own sisterโ€”all desperate to control the magic of the shadows.

With sharp angles and prose, and a sinister bent, Holly Black is a master of shadow and story stitching. Remember while you read, light isnโ€™t playing tricks in Book of Night, the people are.

Chloe Green is so close to winning. After her moms moved her from SoCal to Alabama for high school, sheโ€™s spent the past four years dodging gossipy classmates and a puritanical administration at Willowgrove Christian Academy. The thing thatโ€™s kept her going: winning valedictorian. Her only rival: prom queen Shara Wheeler, the principalโ€™s perfect progeny.

But a month before graduation, Shara kisses Chloe and vanishes.

On a furious hunt for answers, Chloe discovers sheโ€™s not the only one Shara kissed. Thereโ€™s also Smith, Sharaโ€™s longtime quarterback sweetheart, and Rory, Sharaโ€™s bad boy neighbor with a crush. The three have nothing in common except Shara and the annoyingly cryptic notes she left behind, but together they must untangle Sharaโ€™s trail of clues and find her. Itโ€™ll be worth it, if Chloe can drag Shara back before graduation to beat her fair-and-square.

Thrown into an unlikely alliance, chasing a ghost through parties, break-ins, puzzles, and secrets revealed on monogrammed stationery, Chloe starts to suspect there might be more to this small town than she thought. And maybeโ€”probably not, but maybeโ€”more to Shara, too.

A powerful, gripping YA novel about the insidious nature of racism, the terrible costs of unearthing hidden truths, and the undeniable power of hope, by New York Times bestselling author Samira Ahmed. Perfect for fans of Sadie and Dear Martin.

Safiya Mirza dreams of becoming a journalist. And one thing sheโ€™s learned as editor of her school newspaper is that a journalistโ€™s job is to find the facts and not let personal biases affect the story. But all that changes the day she finds the body of a murdered boy.

Jawad Ali was fourteen years old when he built a cosplay jetpack that a teacher mistook for a bomb. A jetpack that got him arrested, labeled a terroristโ€”and eventually killed. But heโ€™s more than a dead body, and more than โ€œBomb Boy.โ€ He was a person with a life worth remembering.

Driven by Jawadโ€™s haunting voice guiding her throughout her investigation, Safiya seeks to tell the whole truth about the murdered boy and those who killed him because of their hate-based beliefs.

But Lily is nothing if not resourceful, and now uses Dukeโ€™s coveted hand-drawn maps to guide tourists on fake treasure hunts through the red rock canyons of Utah. No one can call Vansh Rajeโ€™s life anything but charmed. Just when Nainaโ€™s dream is about to come to fruition, Vansh Raje shows up with his misguided Emma Project … and suddenly sheโ€™s fighting him for funding and wondering if a friends-with-benefits arrangement thatโ€™s as toe-curlingly hot as it is fun is worth risking her lifeโ€™s work for.

A high-stakes fantasy rom-com about twin princesses separated at birthโ€”one raised as the crown princess, and the other taken as an infant and raised to kidnap her sister, steal the crown, and avenge the parents’ murders.

Wren Greenrock has always known that one day she would steal her sisterโ€™s place in the palace. Trained from birth to return to the place of her parentsโ€™ murder and usurp the only survivor, she will do anything to rise to power and protect the community of witches she loves. Or she would, if only a certain palace guard wasnโ€™t quite so distractingly attractive, and if her reckless magic didnโ€™t have a habit of causing trouble โ€ฆ

Princess Rose Valhart knows that with power comes responsibility. Marriage into a brutal kingdom awaits, and she will not let a small matter like waking up in the middle of the desert in the company of an extremely impertinent (and handsome) kidnapper get in the way of her royal duty. But life outside the palace walls is wilder and more beautiful than she ever imagined, and the witches she has long feared might turn out to be the family she never knew she was missing.

Two sisters separated at birth and raised into entirely different worlds are about to get to know each otherโ€™s lives a whole lot better. But as coronation day looms closer and they each strive to claim their birthright, the sinister Kingsbreath, Willem Rathborne, becomes increasingly determined that neither will succeed. Who will ultimately rise to power and wear the crown?

When Marcos moves to town, Milo is forced to acknowledge the feelings he’s kept hidden, especially from his religious parents. But as natural disasters begin to befall them the closer they become, Milo and Marcos soon begin to wonder if the universe itself is plotting against them in this young adult debut by playwright and creator of The Two Princes podcast, Kevin Christopher Snipes.

Milo Connolly has managed to survive the first three years of high school without any major disasters, so by his calculations, heโ€™s well past due for some sort of Epic Teenage Catastrophe. Even so, all he wants his senior year is to keep his head down and fly under the radar like the quiet, well-behaved, churchgoing boy that everyone thinks he is.

Everything is going exactly as planned until the dreamy and charismatic Marcos Price saunters back into his life after a three-year absence and turns his world upside-down. Suddenly Milo is forced to confront the long-buried feelings that heโ€™s kept hidden not only from himself but also from his deeply religious parents and community.

To make matters worse, strange things have been happening around his sleepy Florida town ever since Marcosโ€™s returnโ€”sinkholes, blackouts, hailstorms. Mother Nature seems out of control, and the closer Milo and Marcos get, the more disasters seem to befall them.

In fact, as more and more bizarre occurrences pile up, Milo and Marcos find themselves faced with the unthinkable: Is there a larger, unseen force at play, trying to keep them apart? And if so, is their love worth risking the end of the world?

From debut author Kevin Christopher Snipes, Milo and Marcos at the End of the World is a new coming-of-age novel about finding the courage not only to love others but also to love ourselves.
