Review Policy

I love working with authors and publishers to provide honest book reviews and recommendations. Due to the volume of requests and the time it takes to read a book for review and prepare book list posts, The Contented Reader is monetized and asks for compensation for my time and labour. If you’re looking for more promotional opportunities, please see The Contented Reader’s work with me page for more details.

If you are a traditionally published author or publisher interested in working with me for a book review, here are some important things to consider before contacting me.

I do not charge for book reviews on The Contented Reader. However, in exchange for my review, I require a copy of the book. Please note that I am located in Canada if you are looking to provide me with a physical book for review. I also have access to Netgalley and Edelweiss and am happy to accept an e-book format. My reviews are always genuine and honest. Due to this, I cannot guarantee a perfect review.

The Contented Reader is primarily a book blog that focuses on children’s, middle-grade, young adult and adult fiction. The genres I enjoy the most are contemporary, romance, fantasy, mystery, and historical fiction. I occasionally accept other genres outside of these, depending on my level of interest. I am not accepting self-published books for review at this time.

When submitting a book for a potential review on The Contented Reader, please include the following information:

  1. Title and author
  2. Publisher information
  3. Synopsis
  4. Publication date
  5. Any specific information such as deadline requirements
  6. A brief explanation of why you think it would be a good fit for The Contented Reader and the blog’s audience
