Two divorce lawyers determined to share only beds but not hearts discover that love is something that canโt be overruled in this steamy contemporary romance by Lana Ferguson,ย USA Todayย bestselling author ofย The Game Changer.
Danica Pierce has one great love in her life: work. As one of the top divorce lawyers in Austin, Danica lets her caseload keep her warm at night and has no problem being married to her job, not when love only ends in hurt. When the biggest case of her career gives her a shot at making partner, it seems like nothing could possibly stand in her wayโฆexcept for her infuriating secret: sheโs sleeping with the enemy.
Ezra Hart is known for charming his way in and out of a courtroom. In the matter of winning Danica Pierceโs heart, however, heโs been far less successful. With her verdict to keep things purely physical with no chance of appeal, Ezra struggles to show Danica heโs more than the insufferable playboy sheโs pegged him to beโespecially since they find themselves on opposing sides of Danicaโs most important case to date.
While Dani and Ezra battle it out in the courtroom, the real trial is the one happening between them. When Dani realizes that everything she knows of Ezra might be hearsayโand that sheโs not the only one with emotional baggageโshe must choose between her fear of trusting again and the feelings blossoming between her and the man she thought was her worst enemy.
Overruled Book Review
Iโve been eagerly anticipating the release of Overruled, and Iโm so glad it lived up to my expectations. From the very first chapter, I was hooked.
Overruled follows Dani, a sharp and determined lawyer, and Ezra, her equally ambitious rival in the courtroom. When they find themselves squaring off over a high-profile divorce case, sparks flyโin more ways than one.
Dani and Ezra were such a delight to read. Their banter had me grinning the whole way through, and what I loved most was how their relationship evolved beyond rivalry. Beneath the snarky and witty back-and-forth, there was a genuine emotional vulnerability that made their bond feel real. In some ways, their story reads as both an enemies-to-lovers and a friends-to-lovers arc, which made everything more rewarding.
The legal drama added a unique layer to this book, as well! As someone whoโs a fan of Suits, I enjoyed seeing the tension unfold inside the courtroomโit gave the story a fun backdrop while still keeping the romance front and centre. The pacing felt just right for me, and the balance between professional tension and romantic tension really worked.
Overall, Overruled is a great blend of spice (and thereโs lots of it!), witty banter, and heartfelt moments. Dani and Ezraโs journey from rivals to something deeper had me rooting for them every step of the way. If youโre a fan of enemies-to-lovers with a dash of courtroom drama, this book is a must-read!
Iโm already eager to dive into Lana Fergusonโs backlistโI have some catching up to do!
