It’s hard to believe that July is finished and it’s time for me to share my July 2024 reading wrap up!
I wait patiently all year for the summer months so that I can enjoy my time at the cottage. I can’t believe how fast this summer is flying by — it’s hard to believe I only have a month left of my summer at the cottage!
July has been a fantastic reading month for me. Combined with the time at the cottage and the warm weather, I’ve been enjoying reading outside as much as possible. There really is nothing better!
In July, I managed to read nine books — seven 2024 releases and two backlist titles. I also managed to read two non-fiction books this month! I’ve been wanting to read more non-fiction titles, and hopefully I’ll get to some more before the end of the year.

July 2024 Reading Wrap Up
House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J Maas. After months of waiting, I finally had the chance to read the next book in the Crescent City series. I really wanted to wait until the summer when I had the time to sit and read a long fantasy and I’m glad I did! Just like all of Sarah J Maas’ books, this was full of action, adventure and heartwarming moments. I believe she confirmed there will be a fourth book, so I’ll be curious to see what happens with that!
The Ex Vows by Jessica Joyce. I absolutely adored Jessica Joyce’s debut You, With a View. When I heard about her next release, I knew I needed to pick it up. I’m so glad I did — this was just as delightful as her first book. It was the perfect second-chance romance with characters that pulled at my heartstrings. I think at this point, I’ll read anything Jessica Joyce releases!
The Art of Catching Feelings by Alicia Thompson. I haven’t read any of Alicia Thompson’s books before but this new release caught my eye! I know nothing about baseball but this was a really enjoyable and fun sports romance. It has You’ve Got Mail vibes which I loved and the overall plot of the book was enjoyable from start to finish. I also really loved Chris’ character, he was a true delight!
The Paradise Problem by Christina Lauren. The Paradise Problem was the July book for my book club. I’ve always enjoyed Christina Lauren’s books and this one is no different. While it’s not necessarily my favourite of there’s, it was the perfect summer read. I enjoyed the characters and the romance throughout. The setting made it a perfect book to curl up with on a warm summer day!
The Woman in Me by Britney Spears. The Woman in Me is my first non-fiction read of the year — I really don’t read many non-fiction books. This was such an eye-opening read for me and I’m so glad I picked it up. It’s full of moments that make you smile as well as moments that truly tug at your heartstrings. I feel for Britney and I’m glad she released this memoir. I’m hopeful that she’ll release another one, because I’m sure there is more to share.
Things I Should Have Said by Jamie Lynn Spears. After reading Britney’s book, I wanted to pick up her sister’s to compare. I’m glad I read this one as well, but I didn’t love it as much as Britney’s. I could see some similarities in terms of their discussion of their childhood, which really helped solidify how difficult their childhood was. It was another eye-opening read but it made me feel for Britney even more.
Every Time I Go on Vacation, Someone Dies by Catherine Mack. I was incredibly excited to pick this one up — it was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. Unfortunately, I didn’t love this as much as I had hoped. While the concept was fun and I did enjoy parts of it, I really did not like the addition of footnotes. I found them so distracting, and at some points, completely pointless. It just made the reading experience not as fun for me and took away from my general enjoyment. I’m not sure if I’ll pick up the next book, but we’ll see!
Summer Ever After by Kortney Keisel. I absolutely love when authors come together on Kindle Unlimited to release books that connect with one another. Summer Ever After is the first book in the Falling for Summer series and it was a delight! The perfect summer vibes with a small town setting and adorable romance — what more could you ask for? I’m excited to to continue the series in August!
One Perfect Couple by Ruth Ware. I don’t read many mystery thrillers but I’ve been wanting to pick up One Perfect Couple for a while. Unfortunately, this one fell really flat for me. I don’t know if it was just me, but I feel like a lot of the book is slow moving. I wanted more action and suspense, but it just wasn’t there. It was just a solid thriller in my opinion — but I will be picking up more of her books in the future!
