When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin — one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.
As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it … or doom Tamlin — and his world — forever.
A Court of Thorns and Roses Review
After reading Throne of Glass recently, I didn’t think Sarah J Maas’ books could get any better. But wow, was I ever wrong! I’m officially a Sarah J Maas convert.
A Court of Thorns and Roses follows Feyre, who kills a wolf in the woods and is taken captive because of it. Her time in the land of faeries is both scary and exhilarating. The story is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast.
I loved each and every one of the characters in this book. Feyre is such a strong and wild main character, flaws and all. I really enjoyed her character arc throughout this story.
On the other hand, Tamlin is enjoyable some of the time. But I think my fondness for him significantly dwindled by the end. He’s intriguing in the beginning but gets a little bit boring in the end.
Lucien and Rhysand are great characters and I’m looking forward to getting to know them better in the next book. I find all the characters are so unique and their individual relationships with Feyre are great.
Another thing I loved about this book is the plot. It’s honestly fantastic. It’s filled with action, adventure, uncertainty and romance. I seriously just love every aspect of it.
Another thing I love is Sarah J Maas’ writing – it’s stunning. Not only is it vivid and descriptive, but it just totally draws you in. Because of this, I constantly wanted more and just kept turning the pages.
Overall, A Court of Thorns and Roses is a fantastic book. I’m so, so happy I finally read it. I’m excited to jump right into the next book and see how it all continues.
If you haven’t checked this book out yet, I highly recommend you do!

Be glad of your human heart, Feyre. Pity those who don’t feel anything at all.
