As soon as I finished reading Serpent & Dove last year, I have been (not-so) patiently waiting for its sequel. Blood and Honey picks up right after the events of Serpent and Dove. The series follows Lou, a witch hiding from both her coven and the town’s witch hunters — The Chasseurs. It also follows Reid, a witch hunter who is forced to marry Lou.
Emily Knight I Am Becoming by Abiola Bello
When I read the first two books in the Emily Knight I Am series, I quickly fell for the diverse characters and epic adventure. The third book is no different! The Emily Knight I Am series follows Emily Knight as she discovers magical powers, learns to cope with them and the magical adventure that comes with it.

And now with the release of Midnight Sun, that excitement has returned! But there are so many other great vampire and paranormal books for Twilight fans out there to try!
The Queen’s Assassin by Melissa de la Cruz
I really enjoy books set in kingdoms that follow royalty so I was really excited to read The Queen’s AssassinSince hearing about it, it seemed like a perfect fit for me. Unfortunately, this book was a really disappointing read for me.
The Queen’s Assassin follows Shadow, a young girl who desperately wants to join a league of assassins called The Guild. The book also follows Caledon, the Queen’s personal assassin who is bound to her by blood because of an oath his father makes. A series of events brings Shadow and Caledon together and they work together to uncover secrets within the kingdom.
Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare
Cassandra Clare does it again! I swear her books just get better and that is certainly the case with Chain of Gold. Chain of Gold is the start of a brand new trilogy inside the world of Shadowhunters. Chain of Gold follows James and Lucie Herondale and their friends as they deal with a mysterious sickness spreading throughout the Shadowhunter world.
House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas
Ever since hearing about Sarah J Maas’ first adult fantasy, I’ve been eagerly waiting its release! I was absolutely shocked when Raincoast Books sent me an ARC of it and let me tell you, this book did not disappoint! House of Earth and Blood follows Bryce, a half-human, half-fae, as she investigates the brutal murder of her friends. Hunt is a Fallen Angel who assists Bryce during the investigation in order to gain his freedom.
Faith: Taking Flight by Julie Murphy
After hearing about Faith: Taking Flight, I immediately added it to my list of books to read in 2020. The cover, the synopsis, the author and the diversity of the book totally caught my attention. While I enjoyed the book, I didn’t love it as much as I hoped I would.
Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin
Wow. This book. This book is just such a good debut. I first heard about this book at the Frenzy Presents event in August. I immediately pre-ordered the book and I’m so, so glad I did!
Serpent & Dove follows Lou, a witch hiding from her coven and the town’s witch hunters – The Chasseurs. It also follows Reid, a witch hunter who hunts and kills witches, with no questions asked. A series of events brings these two together, and chaos ensues!
ARC Review | Sea Witch Rising by Sarah Henning
This is definitely an enjoyable sequel to an epic fantasy retelling of the little mermaid! The first book, Sea Witch, was not my favourite and it did fall a little flat for me. But, I enjoyed it and thankfully, I enjoyed the sequel as well!
Sea Witch Rising picks up right after the events of Sea Witch. Evie is struggling with the events of the first book. But we also follow two new characters, Alia and Runa who are twins. Alia falls in love with a human and trades her voice with the Sea Witch to prove her love is reciprocated. Runa also makes a trade with the Sea Witch at a much steeper cost.
The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan
It’s crazy to say this, but this is my first ever Rick Riordan book! One of my closest friends loves Rick Riordan and suggested I try reading his newest series and I’m so happy I did! The Hidden Oracle follows Apollo, who is sent to earth by his father, Zeus.
The Ghosteleers by Philip Beicken
Hashtag Press releases some really enjoyable middle grade books. The Ghosteleers is no exception! The Ghosteleers is a middle grade fantasy and adventure book. It follows Norman and his cat Morph who wake up in a new mysterious world. As a result, they join a team of Ghosteleers, who protect humans from harm using telekinetic powers!
Finale by Stephanie Garber
All games must come to an end! After reading Caraval, I was in love with the world and the wonderful characters. Legendary brings a brand new story as well as a new game. While Finale brings everything together, it’s not my favourite in this series.
