There’s nothing better than discovering new authors to love. This list features 10 new to me authors that I read throughout 2022.
While I do tend to read a lot of books by authors I know and love, there’s something exciting about trying new authors too. From debut authors to established authors, there’s always something new to try.
On this list, you’ll find ten authors I read in 2022 that were new to me and the books I read.
All of these authors were a success for me and I can’t wait to read more from them in the future. Whether it’s their upcoming releases or reading through their backlist titles, these authors have become new favourites.

New to Me Authors in 2022
Amy Barry. I have never read a western before, but I had heard so many great things about Kit McBride Gets a Wife that I had to read it. I absolutely adored this story and I’m so excited to read the sequel, Marrying Off Morgan McBride when it releases this year. It’s full of sweet moments, hilarious characters and swoony romance.
Amy Lea. After hearing about Amy Lea’s debut, I immediately added it to my list of books to read. I’ve been following her on Instagram for a long time and she’s a fellow Canadian. I loved Set on You β it was such a fun and charming rom-com. I’ve already read her next romance, Exes and O’s, and loved it even more!
Cindy Steel. After seeing this book take over my Instagram over the holiday season, I knew I needed to read it. Faking Christmas is the enemies-to-lovers, fake-dating story of my dreams. Everything about it is pure perfection and now I want to read all of Cindy Steel’s backlist titles! The Christmas Escape series in general is amazing, and I highly recommend checking the books out.
Farah Rochon. After years of wanting to read a book by Farah Rochon, I finally did! I really enjoyed The Boyfriend Project β I read it while on vacation in Florida last year. It was a fun and entertaining rom-com! I also read the sequel, The Boyfriend Project last year and enjoyed it as well. I’m hoping to get to the final book, The Hookup Plan sometime this year!
Holly Jackson. There’s nothing better than a good young adult mystery. I did a buddy read of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder last year and really enjoyed it. I liked the writing and the overall plot. I’m hoping to read the next two books in the series sometime this year with my friend.
Jackie Lau. This cover is so adorable and definitely made me want to read it. I really enjoyed it and I’m hoping to read the companion, The Stand-Up Groomsman sometime this year. I also want to read her novellas!
Julie Abe. Julie Abe’s books have been on my radar for a while now. The Charmed List really intrigued me and I’m so glad I read it. It was funny and the overall plot was really enjoyable. The romance is also super cute. I definitely want to read more from her in the future.
Sarah Grunder Ruiz. I wanted to read Sarah Grunder Ruiz’s debut when it released but I didn’t get to it. Thankfully, I read it at the beginning of 2022 and absolutely loved it. I recently picked up a copy of the sequel so I’m hoping to get to it sometime soon as well!
Seanan McGuire. After wanting to read the Wayward Children series for so long, I finally read the first book. It was a really unique read and I loved Seanan McGuire’s writing. It’s such an interesting series and I also love how short the books are. I’m hoping to continuing with the other books this year.
Taylor Jenkins Reid. I finally read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and I’m kicking myself that it took me so long. It was such an incredibly heartwarming and enjoyable read. It was so good that it made my list of favourite books for 2022! I can’t wait to read more of her books β starting with Daisy Jones and the Six.

I enjoyed the Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series as well. Jackson writes a good mystery/thriller, so she’s on my auto-read list. Glad you enjoy her books as well!
