It’s hard to believe that we’re already in the month of June! While this year has been busy and my blog has been neglected, I’m still having a decent reading year. To help catch you up, here’s my spring 2024 reading wrap up!
I’ve had a really busy year so far and unfortunately my blog has suffered. I’ve been busy with teaching, social obligations and travel. Thankfully, the school year is wrapping up and I can get back to the hobbies I love.
Even though my life has been busy, I’ve managed to have a great reading year. Here’s how my reading year has gone so far:
- March 2024: In March, I read a total of four books — 3 brand new releases and one backlist title.
- April 2024: In April, I read a total of eight books — 1 brand new release and seven backlist titles.
- May 2024: In May, I read a total of three books — 2 brand new releases and one backlist title.

March 2024 Reading Wrap Up
Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey. I always look forward to Tessa Bailey’s new releases and thankfully, I really enjoyed Fangirl Down! While I know very little about golf, I really loved the plot of this book. The characters, the plot and the romance was enjoyable the whole way through. It also has me curious to read more sports romance in the future!
The Reason I Married Him by Meghan Quinn. Meghan Quinn has quickly solidified herself as one of my favourite romance authors. While I enjoyed The Way I Hate Him, I loved The Reason I Married Him so much more. This book had me captured from the first page and I absolutely loved the romance. I loved the small town vibes and seeing characters I already loved from the first book.
The Women by Kristin Hannah. The Women was picked as the March book for my book club. It also happened to be my first Kristin Hannah book. It certainly will not be my last! This book twists your heart in every single direction but it’s also a powerful read from the first page. I absolutely devoured this book and will definitely be picking up more of her books in the future.
The Wedding Game by Meghan Quinn. The Wedding Game was one of the last standalone books by Meghan Quinn that I needed to catch up on. I enjoyed this one but it definitely is not my favourite. I loved the competition aspect of this one and the characters were really entertaining too!
April 2024 Reading Wrap Up
Eloise and the Grump Next Door by Emma St. Clair and Jenny Proctor. I’ve been wanting to read this series for a while so I finally decided to pick up the first book. I absolutely loved Eloise and Jake! The grumpy sunshine trope was done really well and the overall story was fun and satisfying. It left me excited to continue the series and curious to read more books by these authors.
Kiss and Don’t Tell by Meghan Quinn. I’ve been wanting to read this series for a while, and with the next book releasing in June, I figured it was time to give it a chance. I’m SO glad I did because this series might be up there as my favourite. I absolutely loved the focus on hockey, the characters and the romance. The plot was so entertaining and immediately left me wanting more from this world and these characters.
Those Three Little Words by Meghan Quinn. After finishing Kiss and Don’t Tell, I immediately jumped into Those Three Little Words. I always think that there’s no way I could love a book more than the previous one, especially when it comes to Meghan Quinn. But, I was completely wrong. While this has one of my least favourite tropes at the centre, I think it was done so well.
Right Man, Right Time by Meghan Quinn. Right Man, Right Time was another great addition to this series. These characters get better with each book and I just love that this series focuses on the romance but it also highlights the friendships. Sometimes the age gap trope doesn’t work for me, but it definitely worked alongside the fake dating element in this book.
He’s Not My Type by Meghan Quinn. Dare I say this is my favourite in the Vancouver Agitators series? I absolutely love Halsey — in each book he’s been incredibly enjoyable. His story and romance is so satisfying and entertaining. I really loved seeing him get his happily ever after.
Merritt and her Childhood Crush by Emma St. Clair and Jenny Proctor. After reading so many Meghan Quinn books, I decided to return to simple romance books. Merritt and her Childhood Crush is my favourite in this series. I absolutely loved Hunter and it was just so sweet to see him get his happily ever after.
Sadie and the Bad Boy Billionaire by Emma St. Clair and Jenny Proctor. This was a fun addition to the series and made a great end to it as well. I loved reading Sadie’s story and seeing how it all unfolded. I also loved the little addition of action in this story — I didn’t expect it, but I really enjoyed it!
Too Hot to Handle by Tessa Bailey. I have a lot of Tessa Bailey’s backlist books on my TBR and I decided it was time to start reading some of them. While I usually love Tessa Bailey’s books, I was so disappointed in this one. The pace just didn’t work for me and I really didn’t find myself drawn to the characters. I will attempt the rest of the series at some point, but I’m not in a rush.
May 2024 Reading Wrap Up
Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez. I just adore Abby Jimenez and her books. While on vacation, I needed something reliable to read and thankfully, this new release hit the spot! I absolutely loved the story, the characters, the swoon worthy romance and the overall feel that this book conveyed. I can’t wait for whatever she releases next!
Funny Story by Emily Henry. Funny Story was the book for my book club in May. I’ve enjoyed all of Emily Henry’s adult books (except for Beach Read, since I still need to read it) and this one is no different! Funny Story was sweet and endearing — the perfect book to kick off the warmer months for me!
The Duke & I by Julia Quinn. I wanted to re-read the Bridgerton books in preparation for the newest season. Even though I’ve read The Duke and I before, it put me into a reading slump. I still enjoyed it, but not as much as I did the first time. I still haven’t read the next few books and I haven’t watched the new season either, so hopefully I’ll get to them both soon!
