The publisher kindly sent me a physical copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Lacey Barnes has dreamed of being an actress for as long as she can remember. So when she gets the opportunity to star in a movie alongside one of Hollywood’s hottest actors, she doesn’t hesitate to accept the part.
But Lacey quickly learns that life in the spotlight isn’t as picture perfect as she imagined. She’s having trouble bonding with her costars, her father has hired the definition of a choir boy, Donavan Lake, to tutor her, and somewhere along the way she’s lost her acting mojo. And just when it seems like things couldn’t get any worse, it looks like someone on set is deliberately trying to sabotage her.
As Lacey’s world spins out of control, it feels like the only person she can count on — whether it’s helping her try to unravel the mystery of who is out to get her or snap her out of her acting funk — is Donavan. But what she doesn’t count on is this straight-laced boy becoming another distraction.
With her entire future riding on this movie, Lacey knows she can’t afford to get sidetracked by a crush. But for the first time in her life Lacey wonders if it’s true that the best stories really do happen when you go off script.
Fame, Fate and the First Kiss Review
After reading my first Kasie West book last year, I’ve been wanting to read all of her books. Before this one, I’ve read a total of three. Unfortunately, Fame, Fate and the First Kiss is not one of my favourites.
Fame, Fate and the First Kiss follows Lacey, who is trying to achieve her dream of being an actress. She’s working on the set of a movie with an extremely famous co-star and also receiving tutoring lessons.
While Fame, Fate and the First Kiss is not my favourite, I did enjoy it. The characters are interesting and it’s fun seeing them navigate the entertainment world. As a teacher I enjoyed the tutoring element!
But the story for me is just okay. I usually connect to Kasie West’s characters but they weren’t perfect for me in this one. But I did love seeing Abby for the first companion book, Love, Life and the List.
I love Kasie West for her lighthearted, fluffy romances. But the romance in this one is a little bit dull. While this could be because I didn’t connect to the characters as much as I have in the past, I still wanted more.
Kasie West has a natural talent for writing. While this is not my favourite, it’s fluffy, cute and has you reaching for the next page. Overall, it’s an enjoyable story for when you want something light and easy to read. And if you’re a fan of Kasie West, it’s certainly one to pick up!

About the Author
Kasie West lives with her family in central California, where the heat tries to kill her with its 115-degree stretches. She graduated from Fresno State University with a BA degree that has nothing to do with writing.
