Anna and the French Kiss Review
I really, really enjoyed this book. I don’t know why it took me so long to actually read it!
Anna and the French Kiss has been on my to be read list for quite a while. Only after seeing some posts on bookstragram, did I finally decide it was time to see what I was missing. And I’m so glad I finally did.
Anna and the French Kiss follows Anna, a teenage girl who goes to a school in Paris for her senior year. It’s a whirlwind experience for her, filled with travel, exploration and romance. When she meets Ètienne, her whole world is turned around.
Anna and the French Kiss is an amazing contemporary romance read. I think I would have to say it’s my favourite to date. Anna is a great main character – she’s ruthless at times but also caring. She’s a strong female character with a realistic personality. Because of this, you just can’t help but admire her throughout the book.
Ètienne, oh lovely Ètienne. Seriously, though? He’s a fantastic character – you just can’t help but fall in love with him. His relationship with Anna is realistic, while also cute and swoon-worthy!
With that said, it’s hard not to comment on the girlfriend situation. When he meets Anna, Ètienne has a serious girlfriend. Because of this, it does make it hard to truly embrace their relationship. I have an issue with cheating (both in books and in general) and I don’t like that Stephanie Perkins hints at this in the book.
The setting of the book is wonderful. Not only is it intriguing to read a story set in another country, but Stephanie Perkins adds so much culture to the story. It makes me dream of the next time I can visit Paris and all the new things I want to experience.
I read this book so quickly because it was so good. I never wanted to put it down, but I do wish I savoured the moment for a little bit longer. It’s a great contemporary romance read, despite the small issues I do have with it.
Overall, Anna and the French Kiss is a great read. It’s perfect for those wanting to escape to a different country and experience a unique romance!

I also loved this book! I highly recommend the audiobook version, too. The narrator just perfectly executes Anna’s bubbly personality and the angst/tension with Etienne.

Oh wow! I’ll have to give that a try – I usually don’t listen to audiobooks, but I feel like this would be a good book to listen to! Thanks for the recommendation 🙂
