50 New Young Adult Books I’m Excited to Read in 2024

Forever … by Judy Blume

It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book by Judy Blume. While Forever has been released for a long time now, it’s releasing in 2024 with a brand new cover. I never got a chance to read this one, so I’m looking forward to picking up this brand new copy!

Arya Khanna’s Bollywood Moment by Arushi Avachat

There’s nothing better than a young adult contemporary romance, at least in my opinion! Arya Khanna’s Bollywood Moment follows Arya, who has dreams for her senior year, but they’re not going to plan. When she tries to keep the peace at home, at school and with her friends, she learns that things don’t always work like they do in a Bollywood movie. It’s going to be such a fun read and I’m so excited to pick it up!

The Atlas of Us by Kristin Dwyer

The Atlas of Us follows Atlas, who feels like she’s lost her way in life. When she gets the chance to work on a community service program, she heads out on a wilderness trail with four others. While working together, she discovers that these new friends might know her better than anyone else. I feel like this is going to be a really heartfelt contemporary.

The Lost Ones by Lauren De Stefano

It’s not a complete list of books I’m excited about if there isn’t a Disney themed book on it. The Lost Ones is the second book in The Dark Ascension series, which focuses on Disney villains. This new releases shares the story of Captain Hook and his twin sister Marlene, before he was the villain of Neverland.

A Drop of Venom by Sajni Patel

I’m so excited to pick up this new fantasy from the Rick Riordan Presents series. A Drop of Venom is a feminist retelling of Medusa with Indian mythology mixed throughout. I just know this one is going to be action packed and will keep readers turning each page!

Out of Our League: 16 Stories of Girls in Sports edited by Dahlia Adler and Jennifer Iacopelli

I always love adding new anthologies to my list of books to read, especially young adult anthologies. Out of Our League focuses on the wins and losses girls experience in the world of sports. It has a great mixture of authors contributing stories and is guaranteed to be an entertaining read!

The Getaway List by Emma Lord

I absolutely love Emma Lord’s young adult books and I’m so excited to pick up her newest release! The Getaway List follows Riley, who decides to pack up and move to New York City for the summer following high school graduation. While there, she meets up with her childhood best friend Tom, and they spend their summer completing adventures on their Getaway List. I just know this is going to be another entertaining book from Emma Lord!

Just Say Yes by Goldy Moldavsky

When Jimena discovers she’s undocumented at the age of seventeen, she needs to find a way to stay in New York City. The only quick option is to find an American to marry her so she can secure a green card. She decides to ask her neighbour Vitaly — but he has plans of his own and she can’t stop thinking about him.

A Reckless Oath by Kaylie Smith

A Reckless Oath is the sequel to A Ruinous Fate. It’s an epic series that features witches, prophecies, magic and swoon-worthy romance. This sequel picks up after the events of the first book and is guaranteed to feature more world-building and action-packed moments that will keep readers turning the page.

Lonely Hearts Day by Kasie West

When Kasie West releases a new book, I will always pick it up. Lonely Hearts Day is an upcoming contemporary romance novella that is going to release exclusively as an e-book. It follows Scarlett, who decides to throw a lonely hearts party for Valentine’s Day along with her best friend Jack. I’m excited to read a shorter story from Kasie West and if it’s anything like her other releases, I know it’ll be enjoyable.

These Deadly Prophecies by Andrea Tang

One of my goals for the next year is to read more mystery books. These Deadly Prophecies follows Tabatha, a teenage sorcerer who is also an apprentice for the world’s most famous sorcerer. When her boss predicts his own death, and it comes true, Tabatha needs to solve the mystery and prove her innocence. This one sounds like it’s going to be a really twisty mystery and I’m so excited to pick it up!

I Hope This Doesn’t Find You by Ann Liang

As soon as I heard about I Hope This Doesn’t Find You, it immediately reminded me of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. It follows Sadie, who is perfect on paper and decides to channel her frustration into perfectly crafted e-mails. When her e-mails are accidentally sent out, her life turns upside down. But one person appreciates the “real” Sadie — her nemesis, Julius.

Relit: 16 Latinx Remixes of Classic Stories edited by Sandra Proudman

Relit is another young adult anthology on this list that I’m looking forward to picking up! It features sixteen classic stories, reimagined with a Latinx point of view. I’m particularly excited to read the Pride and Prejudice and the Great Gatsby stories! I love the idea of this anthology and with the mixture of authors, I think it’ll be an entertaining read.

The Boyfriend Wish by Swati Teerdhala

As soon as I heard about The Boyfriend Wish, I immediately added it to my list of books to read. It follow Deepa, a hopeless romantic who makes a wish on a flower for the perfect boyfriend. When her wish comes true and a new boy moves in next door, she feels like it’s a sign. But, something doesn’t feel right. It just sounds like such an adorable book!

With a Little Luck by Marissa Meyer

It’s been a while since I’ve read a book by Marissa Meyer, but this one caught my attention! With a Little Luck follows Jude, who tries to stay under the radar but is gifted with unbelievable luck. With his new luck, he decides to ask out the girl he’s had a crush on for a long time. But, his luck runs out and he finds he has feelings for his best friend.

The Bad Ones by Melissa Albert

The Bad Ones sounds like it will be such a unique read. It’s a mixture of horror and fantasy with a sprinkle of mythology, which sounds so exciting. When four people vanish in a single night, Nora tries to discover the truth of their disappearance.

The Someday Daughter by Ellen O’Clover

I enjoyed Ellen O’Clover’s debut contemporary, so I’m looking forward to picking this one up. Before Audrey was born, her mother wrote a self-help book with letters to her future daughter. While her mother became famous, Audrey’s relationship with her mother is complicated. When the anniversary of the book release comes up, it’s Audrey’s last chance to connect with her mother.

A Tempest of Tea by Hafsah Faizal

A Tempest of Tea is the start to a brand new fantasy duology by Hafsah Faizal. The series will focus on Arthie and her friends as they deal with a heist with vampires. It sounds like it’ll be perfect for fans of Six of Crows and I can’t wait to pick it up!

Compass and Blade by Rachel Greenlaw

Compass and Blade is an exciting new fantasy with pirates! It follows Mira, who plunders shipwrecks and rescue any survivors. When Mira’s father is arrested, she strikes a deal to save the people she loves. But, she only has nine days to do it. It’s guaranteed to be an action packed adventure and is perfect for fans of Fable.

Fate Breaker by Victoria Aveyard

Another trilogy by Victoria Aveyard comes to a close with the release of Fate Breaker. The series starts with Realm Breaker and follows Corayne, who is the last of an ancient lineage that has the ability to save the world. It’s an action packed series with magic and adventure that will certainly come to an epic conclusion.

An Unlikely Proposition by Rosalyn Eves

An Unlikely Proposition is a standalone companion to An Improbable Season. This new release follows Eleanor, who moves to London following the death of her husband. Beastly Beauty is another fairytale retelling on this list. It’s a gender-swapped Beauty and the Beast retelling that follows Arabella as she faces a curse for defying societal norms. The only way to break the curse is through true love and when she meets Beau, her hope rises. But, Beau is skeptical of love and they must work together to end the curse. I’m really looking forward to picking this one up!

Bite Me, Royce Taslim by Lauren Ho

Even though I don’t read a lot of historical fiction, I’m looking forward to picking this one up. The Brightwood Code follows Edda, a former WWI switchboard operator who is haunted by a traumatic event. When she answers a call with the code word “Brightwood” she works with a friend to uncover secrets that may have followed her from overseas. Since I’ve enjoyed stories like this in the past, I’m excited to pick it up!

True Love and Other Impossible Odds is Christina Li’s young adult debut. Since I really loved her middle grade debut, I’m excited to pick this one up! It follows Grace Tang who develops a matchmaking algorithm to predict people’s perfect matches while questioning her own sexuality.

Attached at the Hip by Christine Riccio

Pitched as Survivor (one of my favourite shows!) meets The Bachelor, Christine Riccio’s newest release sounds like an entertaining book! It follows Orie, who decides to join a reality show on a remote island to win a million dollars. When it turns out to be a romantic edition, she discovers that her high school crush Remy is also a contestant.

Summer Nights and Meteorites by Hannah Reynolds

Summer Nights and Meteorites will be the perfect summer read! It follows Jordan, who decides to swear off dating after a number of broken hearts. It’s pitched as The Inheritance Games meets Ocean’s 11, which sounds perfect to me!

Past Present Future by Rachel Lynn Solomon

When Rachel Lynn Solomon releases a book, I immediately add it to my list of books to read. Past Present Future is the sequel to Today Tonight Tomorrow. It follows Rowan and Neil as they navigate a long distance relationship while completing their first year of college. With a dual point of view, it’ll be a delightful read from start to finish.
