January 2023 Young Adult Books to Read
A Ruinous Fate by Kaylie Smith
There’s nothing better than getting cozy on the couch and reading a great fantasy. A Ruinous Fate is one of my most anticipated young adult fantasy books to read in 2023. It’s going to be an epic story about witches, dangerous games and romance!
French Kissing in New York by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau
I enjoyed reading Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau’s debut, Kisses and Croissants, so I’m looking forward to her newest release! It follows a teen girl who returns to New York City to find the boy she fell for the previous summer. It’s going to be so cute!
Highly Suspicious, Unfairly Cute by Talia Hibbert
I am so excited for Talia Hibbert’s young adult debut! I absolutely love her adult books and I just know that I’m going to love this book too. It follows a content creator and an athlete who have to survive the great outdoors, together.
The Stolen Heir by Holly Black
I’m so excited to be back in the world of Elfhame! The Cruel Prince series is full of games and betrayal and I’m so looking forward to more of that in this new duology. I’m also happy that Oak will be a focus in this book, he was great in the previous series!
The Wrong Kind of Weird by James Ramos
I’m always on the lookout for new young adult contemporary books to read! Cameron is a member of the Geeks and Nerd United club but he’s been secretly dating the school queen bee since the summer. When he learns that she doesn’t want to blend their friend groups, he starts bonding with someone elese. This one sounds so fun!
Cool. Awkard. Black. edited by Karen Strong
One of my goals for the new year is to read more anthologies. I’m so excited for this one β there’s some amazing authors included in this anthology! I’m also excited that it features different genres like magical realism, contemporary and historical.
The Wicked Ones by Robin Benway
It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of anything Disney. The Wicked Ones is the start of a new Disney Villains series and I’m so excited to read it! This first book follows the wicked stepsisters from Cinderella, Drizella and Anastasia.
Mysteries of Thorn Manor by Margaret Rogerson
It’s always so fun to return to characters and stories I’ve enjoyed in the past. Mysteries of Thorn Manor is a sequel novella to Sorcery of Thorns. It follows Elisabeth, Nathaniel and Silas as they try and break the magic keeping them inside Thorn Manor.
Seven Percent of Ro Devereux by Ellen O’Clover
This sounds like such a fun contemporary book and I’m so excited to read it! It follows Ro who creates an app that can predict the future with 93% accuracy. When her app predicts her childhood best friend Miller is her soulmate, they are put into a fake-dating scenario. This book sounds like it’s so much fun!
Begin Again by Emma Lord
Every year since Emma Lord’s debut, I’ve started the year off reading her newest release. I’m so excited to read her next young adult book! It follows Andie as she begins college and starts her life over again. I’m excited for the romance and Emma Lord’s signature writing style.
Chain of Thorns by Cassandra Clare
If Cassandra Clare has a book release, I’ll be reading it. I’m so excited for the last book in The Last Hours series, and a bit sad too. The series follows Lucie and James Herondale and their friends as they battle demons in London. It’s going to be an epic end to a fantastic trilogy!
Reggie and Delilah’s Year of Falling by Elise Bryant
Another great young adult contemporary romance on this list! When Reggie and Delilah meet for the first time on New Year’s Eve, they don’t expect to meet again on Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day. Maybe the universe is trying to tell them something. Also, how cute is this cover?
The Davenports by Krystal Marquis
The Davenports is one of my most anticipated reads for 2023. I’m so excited to read this one! The Davenports follows a wealthy Black American family in 1910. It’s going to be a great historical fiction with romance and drama. It’s also inspired by a real family, which is really interesting.
February 2023 Young Adult Books to Read
This Time It’s Real by Ann Liang
Fake dating is one of my favourite tropes and I’m so excited that it’s front and centre for this book. When Eliza’s essay about meeting the love of her life goes viral, she strikes a deal with a famous actor in her class to pretend to be her boyfriend.
Revelle by Lyssa Mia Smith
Revelle is a young adult fantasy inspired by Moulin Rouge. When Prohibition threatens her family’s fantastical show, she does everything she can to save it. But she doesn’t expect the son of the wealthiest family to make her an offer β pose as his girlfriend to help him become mayor, and he’ll save the show. It sounds like it’s going to be so much fun!
When You Wish Upon a Lantern by Gloria Chao
As soon as I saw this cover, it reminded me of the movie Tangled. But then I read the summary, and I just knew it was a book I wanted to read. Liya and Kai have been best friend since childhood but a misunderstanding changes everything. When her family’s wishing lantern store begins to struggle, Kai is the only one who cares enough to help her save it. It’s going to be so cute!
Kill Joy by Holly Jackson
I’ll admit I’ve only read the first book in the Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series. But it was really enjoyable and I’m looking forward to continuing the series. As soon as I heard about this novella, I immediately added it to my list of books to read. It follows Pip as she solves a case during her friend’s murder mystery party.
Last Violent Call by Chloe Gong
Last Violent Call contains two novellas around the events of Foul Lady Fortune. A Foul Thing follows Roma and Juliette as they investigate the murders of several Russian girls. This Foul Murder follows Benedikt and Marshall as they investigate a murder on the Trans-Siberian Express.
Lola at Last by JC Peterson
Lola at Last is inspired by Pride and Prejudice and is a companion to Being Mary Bennett. When Lola accidentally sets a boat on fire, she’s given an ultimatum: jail time or spend the summer with a non-profit organization. It’s inspired by Lydia Bennett and I just can’t wait to see how this story plays out!
March 2023 Young Adult Books to Read
Rosewood: A Midsummer Meet Cute by Sayantani DasGupta
Another great Jane Austen retelling on this list β this time, it’s inspired by Sense and Sensibility. When Eila meets Rahul at Rosewood, a summer camp where campers are being scouted for a Bridgerton type show, she starts to have feelings. With show drama and camp drama, and her new feelings, she has an interesting summer. It sounds so cute!
Royal Blood by AimΓ©e Carter
Aimee Carter’s newest release sounds like it’s a mix of drama and mystery, and I’m looking foward to reading it. Evan is the illegitimate daughter of the King of England. When she’s forced to spend her summer in London with the royal family, she doesn’t expect to become the main suspect in a murder investigation. It sounds like it’s going to be suspenseful and scandalous!
Study Break edited by Aashna Avachat
Study Break is another new anthology on this list that I’m hoping to read in 2023! This collection of short stories explores the college experience from many different perspectives. I’m really looking forward to reading Christina Li’s story and discovering some new authors to read from.
The Renaissance of Gwen Hathaway by Ashley Schumacher
Since Gwen’s mother died, she keeps her life to a minimum. But she does look forward to working at the ren faire with her father every summer. But when she arrives to find that there are new owners, her plans start to change. I’m really looking forward to reading this one β especially because of the setting!
Stars and Smoke by Marie Lu
I really enjoyed reading the Warcross duology by Marie Lu, so I’m excited to read another one of her books. It follows a superstar who becomes a secret agent and a spy assigned to be his partner. It sounds like a perfect it’s going to be the perfect mix of adventure and romance!
April 2023 Young Adult Books to Read
A Whole Song and Dance by Sarvenaz Tash
This sounds like it’s going to be such a fun read. Nasrin is a triple threat and a freshman at NYU’s musical theatre program. But, her parents think she is following in their footsteps as a business major. It’s a cute contemporary about standing up for yourself and chasing your dreams.
First-Year Orientation edited by Lauren Gibaldi
First-Year Orientation is another contemporary anthology on this list. This collection of short stories explores the first day of college from different perspectives. It also features many different genres, which is exciting.
Never Vacation with Your Ex by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka
I will always read a book by Emily and Austin. They’ve also been so incredibly supportive of my blog, which is amazing. Never Vacation with Your Ex is a second chance romance that’s going to be so cute. It follows Kaylee who goes on her family summer vacation. The only problem is that her ex will be there too.
Not Here to Stay Friends by Kaitlyn Hill
I enjoyed Kaitlyn Hill’s debut so I’m definitely looking forward to picking up her next book. Not Here to Stay Friends is a friends-to-lovers pin on The Bachelor. It follows two friends from childhood who reunite for the summer in LA and both get involved in a teen reality dating show. It sounds super cute and I’m excited to pick it up!
Queen Bee by Amalie Howard
Queen Bee is pitched as Bridgerton meets The Count of Monte Cristo, which sounds like a perfect read to me! It follows a teen girl who seeks revenge on a former best friend but catches the eye of a handsome marquess along the way. I’m so excited to pick up this historical rom-com!
When You Wish Upon a Star by Elizabeth Lim
The Twisted Tales series is one of my favourites. Each book is a twist on a classic Disney tale, and they are always so fun to read. When You Wish Upon a Star follows the Blue Fairy who defies law when she doesn’t help Pinocchio.
Against the Tide by J Elle
When the new live action Little Mermaid movie releases, I’ll be looking forward to reading this new story! Since I’m such a fan of Disney in general, I just know I’m going to love this reimagining of the classic story!
Hot Dutch Daydream by Kristy Boyce
I love contemporary romance books that are set in different countries. Hot Dutch Daydream sounds like it’s going to be a really fun read! When Sage spends her summer interning at her mentor’s lab in Amsterdam, she doesn’t expect to meet Ryland. It sounds like it’s going to be a great romance for the summer months!
Snow & Poison by Melissa de la Cruz
Another Disney book on this list, which is definitely not surprising. Melissa de la Cruz delivers a retelling of Snow White and I’m so excited to read it. Set in 1621, it follows Lady Sophie who charms Prince Philip. When Philip’s father finds out, he orders Philip to return home and forces an engagement to a princess.
An Improbable Season by Rosalyn Eves
An Improbable Season is another book on this list that is completely inspired by my love for Bridgerton. Set in Regency London, it follows Thalia, Kalliope and Charis as the debut for their first season. It sounds like it’s going to be a really fun read with drama and romance.
May 2023 Young Adult Books to Read
I Like Me Better by Robby Weber
I’m always looking for adorable contemporary romance books to read in the warmer months. I Like Me Better follows Zack, a soccer star who takes the blame for a prank gone wrong by his team captain. While completing community service, he finds himself falling for the cute intern, Chip. It sounds so cute, I can’t wait to read it!
Imogen, Obviously by Becky Albertalli
As soon as I heard about Becky Albertalli’s newest release, I immediately added it to my list of books to read in 2023. Imogen sees herself as a great LGBTQ+ ally and will do anything to support her friends. When her friend Lili tells all her friends at college that she and Imogen used to date, she is put in an awkward situation. It sounds like it’s going to be a great read about love and discovering yourself.
Liar’s Beach by Katie Cotugno
As soon as I saw that this book is a fresh take on a classic Agatha Christie book, I was sold. I’m a huge fan of Agatha Christie’s mysteries so I’m looking forward to see how Katie Cotugno reimagines The Mysterious Affair at Styles. I’m always looking for enjoyable young adult mystery books and this one sounds great.
Warrior Girl Unearthed by Angeline Boulley
I still need to read Firekeeper’s Daughter, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be excited for Angeline Boulley’s newest release. Warrior Girl Unearthed is a young adult mystery that follows a Native teen who tries to bring an ancestor back home to her tribe. I’ve heard nothing but good things about her debut and I know I’m going to love both of her books!
Nigeria Jones by Ibi Zoboi
Ibi Zoboi always delivers moving and powerful books. I’m so excited to read her newest book, Nigeria Jones. It’s a coming of age contemporary story about courage, family and finding yourself.
Rubi Ramos’s Recipe for Success by Jessica Parra
This is one of my favourite covers for next year β it’s so colourful and really draws me in! Rubi always has a recipe for success. When she’s waitlisted by Alma University, she knows to get off, she needs math tutoring from Ryan. The last step of the recipe is continuing with her baking obsession, even if her parents don’t agree. It’s going to be so cute!
Her Good Side by Rebekah Weatherspoon
Her Good Side is pitched as perfect for fans of Nicola Yoon and Jenny Han. Since I love both of those authors, I’m really looking forward to reading this book! It follows two teens who decide to practice dating with each other so that they can be good at it in the future.
You Bet Your Heart by Danielle Parker
You Bet Your Heart follows two teens who are high achievers. When they fight for the title of high school valedictorian, they are forced to reexamine their friendship and discover more about themselves. It’s going to be such a fun contemporary romance!
June 2023 Young Adult Books to Read
A Spark in the Cinders by Jenny Elder Moke
A Spark in the Cinders is a fairytale reimagining and I am really looking forward to reading it. It follows the wicked stepsister, Aralyn who teams up with two other powerful women to fight for their place in the kingdom. It sounds like it’s going to be full of adventure!
The Dos and Donuts of Love by Adiba Jaigirdar
I love finding young adult books with baking as a theme. The Dos and Donuts of Love is a contemporary romance that follows a teenage girl who competes in a baking competition on TV. While there, she has to deal with her ex-girlfriend and a potential new crush.
Borrow My Heart by Kasie West
I’m a big fan of Kasie West’s books. I’m so excited for her next contemporary romance! When Wren overhears a guy getting made fun of for being catfished she decides to jump in and pretends to be his online crush. Suddenly they’re fake dating and everything that happens is unexpected. It’s going to be so cute!
Boundless edited by IsmΓ©e Williams and Rebecca Balcarcel
Boundless is another contemporary anthology releasing next year. This short story collection has twenty stories that explore multiracial and multicultural experiences. I’m particularly excited to read stories from Erin Entrada Kelly and Jasmine Warga.
Going Bicoastal by Dahlia Adler
Going Bicoastal is a young adult contemporary romance that follows a teen as she finds her happily ever after. When Natalya has to choose between a summer in NYC with her dad or in LA with her estranged mom, she struggles to choose. It also means choosing between the girl she’s always wanted and the boy she never saw coming.
We Ship It by Lauren Kay
As soon as I saw this cover, I immediately added it to my list of books to read. I also love cruising, so it seemed like a perfect fit! It follows Olivia who goes on a family cruise the summer before college and meets Sebastian. It’s going to be a super cute rom-com and the cruise ship setting is going to be so fun!
Manslaughter Park by Tirzah Price
This may be the third Jane Austen retelling on this list, but this one is so unique! Manslaughter Park follows Fanny as she tries to discover her uncle’s killer and clear the name of her crush, Edmund. This mystery series is a lot of fun and I’m excited for the next addition to the series.
Plus One by Kelsey Rodkey
Plus One is another cute contemporary romance book I’m looking forward to reading next year. It follows Lahey who is great at finding love for her classmates but can’t seem to find love for herself. With her cousin’s sweet sixteen party coming up, it’s the perfect opportunity to bring a date, so she juggles six suitors in seven days. it’s going to be such a fun book!
July 2023 Books to Read
Bellegarde by Jamie Lilac
One of my goals with my reading is to read more historical fiction. When I heard about Bellegarde, it immediately caught my attention. It’s pitched as a version of She’s All That set in 18th century Paris. It sounds like it’s going to a perfect rom-com and I also just love the cover!
Fire & Fate by Serena Valentino
While I’m a bit behind in the Villains series, I’m still excited for the newest addition! Fire & Fate follows Hades and his journey from God to Villain. I always enjoyed watching Hercules as a kid so I’m excited to jump into this story.
I’m Not Here to Make Friends by Andrew Yang
I’m a huge fan of reality TV so as soon as I heard about this book, I was immediately intrigued. It follows two teens who are on a reality show during the summer. It has a unique plot and a diverse cast and I can’t wait to give it a read.
Ghosted by Amanda Quain
Ghosted is a retelling of Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey and it sounds like it will be so much fun! While I haven’t read the first book in the series yet, I’m hoping to get to them both at some point. Ghosted has romance, humour and ghostbuster vibes, which sounds like a perfect combination!
One of Us is Back by Karen M McManus
Karen M McManus is one of my favourite young adult mystery authors. I’m really looking forward to reading the last installment in the One of Us is Lying series. I actually don’t know much about it because I want to go into it with no expectations!
The Legacies by Jessica Goodman
I still need to catch up on a couple of Jessica Goodman’s books. But, I’m still excited for her newest mystery, The Legacies. It follows three seniors who get an invitation to an elite club and must participate in a week of events to secure their place. What they don’t expect is for their secrets to come out and for someone to die.
August 2023 Books to Read
Bring Me Your Midnight by Rachel Griffin
I still haven’t read Rachel Griffin’s debut, but that isn’t going to stop me from adding her upcoming release to my TBR! I just adore this cover so much and I think the story inside will be even better. It follows Tana, a witch who misses a vital ritual in her coven. When she meets Wolfe, he may be the only one who can help her β but she needs to choose between loyalty and love in the process.
Unnecessary Drama by Nina Kenwood
I’m always looking for contemporary books to add to my TBR and as soon as I heard about this one, it immediately went on my list. Unnecessary Drama is an enemies-to-lovers romance that follows two enemies from high school who end up sharing a house together at college.
Forty Words for Love by Aisha Saeed
Aisha Saeed is such a wonderful author β it would be shocking if I didn’t have her upcoming release on this list. Forty Words for Love follows two teens as they grow from friends to lovers after a devastating event in their town. It has romance and magical realism β what could be better than that?
Foxglove by Adalyn Grace
Foxglove is the sequel to Belladonna by Adalyn Grace. It’s a gothic inspired fantasy series that follows Signa who has lived with multiple guardians, all more interested in her money. When the spirit of the wife of her current guardian reveals she’s been poisoned, she works with the stable boy to discover the murderer.
Reign by Katharine McGee
I absolutely adore the American Royals series. It follows the American Royals as they navigate the world of scandal and family drama. It’s such a fun twist on a Royal household and I also love the drama that unfolds in each book. Reign is the final book in the series.
The Brothers Hawthorne by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
I am so excited to pick up The Brothers Hawthorne this fall. This is one of my most anticipated reads β especially since I preordered a copy of this one! The Brothers Hawthorne is a spinoff from The Inheritance Games and is guaranteed to bring more twisty games and drama to the table!
September 2023 Books to Read
Drift by Adrienne Young
Adrienne Young is one of my all time favourite authors. She weaves such brilliant stories together and I just soak them all in. Drift is a novella set in the world of Fable. It follows characters Willa and Koy. It’s being released as an audiobook or as an e-book.
Midnight at the Houdini by Delilah S Dawson
Midnight at the Houdini seems like it will be the perfect fall read. It follows Anna, who discovers a hotel where the people who visit never leave. If she doesn’t leave before midnight, she’ll be trapped there forever. It’s pitched as a read for fans of Caraval, and I loved that series so I’m hoping this is a win for me too!
Suddenly a Murder by Lauren MuΓ±oz
When I heard that this book was a mix of One of Us is Lying with Knives Out, I immediately added it to my TBR. It follows a group of friends who throw a 1920’s themed party. When someone is murdered, it turns into an interrogation to find out who the killer is. It sounds like it will be a really engaging whodunnit mystery.
Tales of Light and Life by Disney Lucasfilm Press
I always enjoy reading a good anthology, especially if it has something to do with Star Wars. Tales of Light and Life is a young adult anthology that features characters from the High Republic series. It has a great mix of authors and I’m excited to see what stories are included.
Of Dreams and Destiny by Sandhya Menon
I will admit I’m behind on this series and Sandhya Menon’s books in general. But, I do plan of finishing up this series so I’ll definitely be picking up Of Dreams and Destiny at some point. This is the third book in the St. Rosetta’s Academy series and it is a twisted retelling of Sleeping Beauty.
The Forest Grimm by Kathryn Purdie
While I haven’t read many fairy tale retellings, this one is definitely at the top of my list. The Forest Grimm follows Clara, as she goes into the Forest Grimm to find a magical book. It sounds like it will be a twisted fantasy with romance, which sounds perfect to me!
A British Girl’s Guide to Hurricanes and Heartbreak by Laura Taylor Namey
While I still haven’t read A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow, I’m still looking forward to reading this companion. A Brith Girl’s Guide to Hurricanes and Heartbreak follows Flora, who leaves England and heads to Miami. While there, she navigates romance, friendship and grief.
Firsts and Lasts: 16 Stories from Our World … and Beyond edited by Laura Silverman
Another anthology I’m really looking forward to reading towards the end of the year. It shares stories that focus on the firsts and lasts of a teenagers journey into adulthood. It has such a great mix of authors and I’m really looking forward to picking it up!
Foul Heart Huntsman by Chloe Gong
Foul Heart Huntsman is the sequel to Foul Lady Fortune. The series follows two spies who act as a married couple to investigate murders during the 1930s in Shanghai. I’m behind on Chloe Gong’s books but I’m still excited to get to this one at some point in the future!
Mermaids Never Drown: Tales to Dive For edited by Zoraida CΓ³rdova
After the release of The Little Mermaid, it’d be crazy not to have some sort of mermaid book on my TBR! Mermaids Never Drown is an anthology that features mermaids and sirens in engaging stories. I’m particularly excited to read Julie Murphy and Kerri Maniscalco’s stories.
The Scarlet Veil by Shelby Mahurin
I absolutely loved Serpent & Dove so I’m definitely going to be picking up Shelby Mahurin’s upcoming release. Set in the world of Serpent & Dove, the series CΓ©lie and picks up after the events of Gods & Monsters. It has fantasy, romance and vampires which sounds so fun to me.
October 2023 Books to Read
Woke Up Like This by Amy Lea
I absolutely love Amy Lea’s adult romance books. They’re so fun and always leave me wanting more. I’m so excited to read her debut young adult rom-com, Woke Up Like This. It gives me 13 Going on 30 vibes and I just know I’m going to love it. As a bonus, it’s available the month of September as an Amazon First Reads book pick!
A Twisted Tale Anthology edited by Elizabeth Lim
I’m a big fan of the Twisted Tales series, so it’s no surpirse that this brand new anthology is on my list. It features brand new twists on classic Disney stories like Ariel and Eric, Tiana and Naveen and so many more. I’m so excited to read this and I know that my Disney loving heart will adore this addition to the series.
Eight Dates and Nights by Betsy Aldredge
I’m always looking for holiday books as we get into the later months. Eight Dates and Nights sounds like such a fun story, set during Hanukkah. It follows two teens who celebrate Hanukkah differently, but work together to save the last Jewish deli in town.
Prince of Thorns & Nightmares by Linsey Miller
I recently picked up a copy of Prince of Song & Sea so I definitely want to add Prince of Thorns & Nightmares to my collection. It follows the events of Sleeping Beauty from the perspective of Prince Philip. I just love everything Disney, so there’s no surprise. that this is on my TBR.
Realm of Wonders by Alexandra Monir
Another Disney book on this list! Realm of Wonders is the third book in The Queen’s Council series. It follows Jasmine as she proves that she’s the rightful heir to the throne in Agrabah.
The Fall of Whit Rivera by Crystal Maldonado
When I’m looking for a fall book to read, I think this will be the perfect option. The Fall of Whit Rivera follows Whit and Zay, two frenemies who are forced to plan the fall formal together. The plot sounds so fun and the cover also gives off such great fall vibes!
A Curse for True Love by Stephanie Garber
I haven’t read this series yet but I loved Caraval so I think I’ll love this series as well. A Curse for True Love is the third and final book in the Once Upon a Broken Heart series. The series follow Evangeline, who is devastated to learn that the love of her life will marry someone else. To stop the wedding, she makes a deal with the Jack of Hearts, but it comes at a price.
Sleepless in Dubai by Sajni Patel
I am so excited to pick up this release! Not only does it seem like it will be the perfect story, but I also just love this cover. Sleepless in Dubai follows two teens who travel to Dubai for Diwali. It’s a enemies-to-lovers young adult rom-com and I just can’t wait to pick it up.
Carry My Secret to Your Grave by Stephanie Kuehn

When a murder becomes a little personal, she works to solve the case. It’s a modern update to the Murder, She Wrote series and is great if you love whodunnit stories!
The Rosewood Hunt by Mackenzie Reed
The Rosewood Hunt sounds like such it will be such an engaging read. As soon as I heard about it, I immediately added it to my list of books to read. It follows Lily, who dreams of running her family company in the future. When her Grandmother suddenly passes and her quarter of a billion dollar fortune goes missing, Lily and three other teens are sent on a treasure hunt to find the money. It sounds similar to The Inheritance Games so I’m excited to pick it up.
What the River Knows by Isabel IbaΓ±ez
I haven’t read any books by Isabel IbaΓ±ez but this one definitely caught my attention. It’s pitched as The Mummy meets Death on the Nile which sounds like the perfect mix. It has a rival romance, adventure, archaeology and. isset in 1930s Egypt. I can’t wait to pick up this book!

Check & Mate by Ali Hazelwood
I love Ali Hazelwood’s adult romance so it’s no surprise that I am excited to read her debut young adult romance. It follows Mallory and Nolan, two rival chess players who discover that there may be more behind their games. I’m really looking forward to seeing how Ali Hazelwood’s romance translates to the young adult world.
Finding My Elf by David Valdes
Finding My Elf is another young adult holiday book I’m excited to read this year. It follows Cam, who wants to find himself, while also trying to find the one. It also happens to coincide with his winter break, where he works at Santa’s village.
Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
After reading Fourth Wing, I immediately pre-ordered Iron Flame. I absolutely loved every minute of Fourth Wing and am so excited to see what happens in the sequel. The duology follows Violet, who enters into a war college for dragon riders. It’s full of suspense, epic fantasy and incredible romance.
Wish of the Wicked by Danielle Paige
I haven’t read a book by Danielle Paige in a while, but Wish of the Wicked caught my attention. It’s a twist on the fairy godmothers, which sounds super interesting. It sounds like it will be the perfect mix of fantasy, magic and romance.
Artifacts of an Ex by Jennifer Chen
I always love picking up young adult romance books and Artifacts of an Ex is one I’m particularly excited for. I also happen to have an advance copy of it! It follows Chloe, who is dumped via USPS after moving to New York from Los Angeles. She decides to buy break-up boxes from other teens and creating an art exhibit. While at the opening night, she spots Daniel and they start an interesting partnership, friendship … and possibly something more.
Betting on You by Lynn Painter
Lynn Painter is on my list of auto-buy authors β both for her young adult books and her adult books. I can’t wait to read her upcoming young adult book! It’s pitched as a mix of She’s All That and 10 Things I Hate About You β what could be better than that? I just know I’m going to adore this new story just as much as her previous books.
Didn’t See That Coming by Jesse Q Sutanto
Jesse Q Sutanto is quickly becoming a favourite author for me. She releases such fun and engaging stories, with such loveable characters. Didn’t See That Coming is pitched as a retelling of You’ve Got Mail, one of my all time favourite movies. It has gamers, romance and I just know it will have Jesse Q Sutanto’s signature humour!
December 2023 Books to Read
The Ruined by RenΓ©e Ahdieh
The Ruined is the final book in The Beautiful quartet. While I’m still behind on these books, I’m looking forward to catching up and finishing off this series. It’s the perfect mixture of vampires, mystery and romance.
Our Cursed Love by Julie Abe
I loved The Charmed List by Julie Abe so I’m looking forward to picking up her next young adult contemporary romance. Our Cursed Love is set in Tokyo and follows Remy, who has been in love with her best friend Cam for a long time. After they both drink a magical potion, Cam can’t remember who she is and if she doesn’t fix it by New Year’s Eve, they’ll both be cursed to forget each other.
