Arthur is only in New York for the summer, but if Broadway has taught him anything, it’s that the universe can deliver a showstopping romance when you least expect it.
Ben thinks the universe needs to mind its business. If the universe had his back, he wouldn’t be on his way to the post office carrying a box of his ex-boyfriend’s things.
But when Arthur and Ben meet-cute at the post office, what exactly does the universe have in store for them?
Maybe nothing. After all, they get separated.
Maybe everything. After all, they get reunited.
But what if they can’t quite nail a first date … or a second first date … or a third?
What if Arthur tries too hard to make it work … and Ben doesn’t try hard enough?
What if life really isn’t like a Broadway play?
But what if it is?
What If It’s Us Review
Since I’m always on the hunt for great contemporary reads, What If It’s Us has been on my radar. Thankfully, I really enjoyed this book!
What If It’s Us follows Arthur and Ben. After meeting at a post office in New York City, they quickly build a friendship over the course of a summer.
I absolutely adored these characters. Arthur and Ben are both so adorable and quirky. I couldn’t help but root for Arthur and Ben from the moment they meet because they’re just so loveable. And the side characters in this book are just as great too!
Arthur is sweet, kind and quirky while Ben is rational and loving. Together, they really balance each other out. Which makes all of their interactions so fun. My favourite is definitely Ben though – I just found his character to be really enjoyable.
While romance is definitely a main focus of this book, it’s also about friendship and loyalty. It’s about mending fences and second chances, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It just adds to the overall enjoyment of the story.
Since this is written by two authors, I loved the dual perspective. I think it’s fairly clear as to which character the author’s wrote. In my opinion, they both put their own spin on each on and I think it turns out great!
Overall, I highly recommend checking this book out. Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera are a perfect writing team, and I think it stands out with this book.
I absolutely savoured every minute of this book! Fingers crossed that Becky Albertalli and Adam Silver collaborate together again, because this book is perfection!
I highly, highly recommend picking this book up if you haven’t already! I definitely see this being a book I re-read in my future and I can’t wait for the opportunity to do so!

I barely know him. I guess that is every relationship. You start with nothing and maybe end with everything.
