The publisher kindly provided me with a digital copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
A charming and heartwarming new romantic comedy by the author of Waiting for Tom Hanks, Kerry Winfrey.
Teddy Phillips never thought she’d still be spending every day surrounded by toys at almost thirty years old. But working at a vintage toy store is pretty much all she has going on in her life after being unceremoniously dumped by her longtime boyfriend. The one joy that she’s kept is her not-so-guilty pleasure: Everett’s Place, a local children’s show hosted by Everett St. James, a man whom Teddy finds very soothing … and, okay, cute.
Teddy finds the courage to write to him, feeling slightly like one of the children who write to him on his show. He always gives sound advice and seems like he has everything figured out — and he pretty much does: Everett has a great support system, wonderful friends, and his dream job. But there’s still that persistent feeling in the back of his mind that something’s missing.
When a woman named Theodora starts writing to Everett, he is drawn to her honesty and vulnerability. They continue writing to each other, all the while living their lives without meeting. When their worlds collide, however, they must both let go of their fears and figure out what they truly want — and if the future they want includes each other.
Very Sincerely Yours Review
I have been so excited for Kerry Winfrey’s newest release. After reading Waiting for Tom Hanks, Kerry Winfrey quickly became an auto-buy author. And I’m so glad to say that I really enjoyed Very Sincerely Yours!
Very Sincerely Yours follows Teddy whose boyfriend dumps her and changes the course of her life. On a whim, she decides to e-mail the star of her favourite show, Everett St. James which starts a pen-pal relationship. But what she doesn’t expect is for her real life to collide with Everett’s outside of their e-mails.
One of the things I’ve always loved about Kerry Winfrey’s books are her relatable characters. Teddy is no exception — she’s bright and cheery but she’s also vulnerable and cautious. Her entire life is upside down but she manages to take control and I loved witnessing it. I love that she is unapologetically herself.
Everett is such a sweet romantic interest and I think so many people are going to love his Mister Roger’s vibes. He’s dedicated to his work but he’s also longing for so much more in his life, which is why Teddy is intriguing. I absolutely love when they meet in real life and the way they bring out different sides of each other.
I also really loved the You’ve Got Mail vibes! It’s one of my favourite movies and it’s so cute how Kerry Winfrey always manages to connect everyone’s favourite rom-coms into her stories. It’s such a gentle nod to the movie, but it brings so much to the overall story.
Once again, Kerry Winfrey manages to release a incredibly cute and swoon-worthy story. It’s full of wonderful pop culture references and sweet nods to our favourite rom-coms. With her signature writing and humour, Very Sincerely Yours is going to be a great addition to your shelves.
While Waiting for Tom Hanks and Not Like the Movies remain my favourites, I’m happy with her newest release and am excited for whatever she releases next!
