Braden Mack thinks reading romance novels makes him an expert in love, but he’ll soon discover that real life is better than fiction.
Liv Papandreas has a dream job as a sous chef at Nashville’s hottest restaurant. Too bad the celebrity chef owner is less than charming behind kitchen doors. After she catches him harassing a young hostess, she confronts him and gets fired. Liv vows revenge, but she’ll need assistance to take on the powerful chef.
Unfortunately, that means turning to Braden Mack. When Liv’s blackballed from the restaurant scene, the charismatic nightclub entrepreneur offers to help expose her ex-boss, but she is suspicious of his motives. He’ll need to call in reinforcements: the Bromance Book Club.
Inspired by the romantic suspense novel they’re reading, the book club assist Liv in setting up a sting operation to take down the chef. But they’re just as eager to help Mack figure out the way to Liv’s heart … even while she’s determined to squelch the sparks between them before she gets burned.
Undercover Bromance Review
After reading The Bromance Book Club, I immediately jumped into reading the sequel. While I didn’t love it as much as the first book, it’s a solid sequel!
Undercover Bromance follows Braden Mack, the leader of the Bromance book club as well as Liv, Thea’s younger sister. After Liv catches her boss harassing a co-worker, she works with Braden to expose him.
I really enjoyed Braden’s character in this first book. While he’s bold and confident, he’s also a total teddy bear who desperately wants love. Even though I enjoyed his character in the first book, I really loved his character in this one.
While I enjoyed Liv’s character in the first book, I didn’t quite enjoy her as much this time around. I understand that her past plays a role in her lack of trust. But I just feel like her character is too guarded and can sometimes be annoying. I think she has potential to be an enjoyable character, but she was a bit too much in this book for me.
The plot of the book is just as enjoyable as the first book. There are important themes but Lyssa Kay Adams deals with them in a good way. While Braden and the bromance book club are there to help Liv, she’s still a strong female who can take charge. In that sense, I really enjoyed the overall premise.
I enjoyed the romance in this book, but it didn’t draw me in as much as Gavin and Thea’s romance did. I am happy for Braden though because he finally gets the happily ever after he wants, and that’s so sweet.
Overall, Undercover Bromance is a solid sequel to this series. It’s still a fun read with important themes and strong characters. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the next book!
