It’s hard to believe that another year is complete! This year was a bit of a rollercoaster but I managed to read some great books. Here you’ll find my top ten favourite books of 2023!
Even though my year was a little crazy, I’m still happy with the number of books I read.
With a great mixture of young adult and adult books, I managed to read some amazing stories this year. It made it difficult to choose ten favourite books!
This year, I hit my Goodreads goal of reading 50 books and ended up reading a total of 65 by the end of the year. I’ll be setting my goal for 50 in 2024 because it seems to be a manageable goal for me!
I completed 30 prompts for the Popsugar Reading Challenge, which is more than I’ve ever completed before. I read 12 books for the Buzzwordathon Challenge and I completed 21 letters for the A to Z Challenge.
For this next year, I’m hoping to participate in these challenges again. But the Popsugar Reading Challenge looks like it will be a bit more challenging in 2024, so we’ll see what happens!
I’m so excited to see what my reading will look like in 2024. But for now, here are my top ten favourite books of 2023!

Top Ten Favourite Books of 2023
Betting on You by Lynn Painter. At this point, I will read Lynn Painter’s grocery list. Anything that she writes is immediately added to my list of books to read. Betting on You is her young adult contemporary romance for 2023 and it was such a fun reading experience. It has great characters, witty banter, hilarious moments and adorable romance.
Exes & O’s by Amy Lea. I really enjoyed Amy Lea’s debut, Set on You, and Exes & O’s was just as great. I loved the characters — Tara was quirky and adorable and Trevor was broody, but perfect. The chemistry was great and the overall story was really enjoyable. I can’t wait to pick up the next book in 2024!
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. After hearing so much about Fourth Wing, I decided to pick it up. I’m so glad I did because I loved the entire book from start to finish. It was an action-packed adventure with dragons, addicting romance and a gripping plot. While I didn’t love Iron Flame as much, I’m still excited to see what happens when the series continues!
House of Sky and Breath by Sarah J Maas. I finally had a chance to read House of Sky and Breath this year. It’s no surprise that I thoroughly enjoyed this one! While I didn’t love it as much as House of Earth and Blood, the ending definitely made my jaw drop. I’m so excited to see what happens in House of Flame and Shadow — my preorder is already in!
Marrying Off Morgan McBride by Amy Barry. Since I adored Kit McBride Gets a Wife, I’m so glad I loved the sequel just as much! Marrying Off Morgan McBride was a pure delight and I loved the grumpy-sunshine trope. The characters in this story and the series are heartwarming and I really hope we get to see more of them in the future!
Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez. This year was my year for Abby Jimenez. After having her books on my TBR for a long time, I finally picked them all up. Part of Your World is my favourite of all her books (so far!). It was a fantastic romance and just hit the spot for me. I definitely see myself re-reading it in the future!
The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez. Like I said, this was the year of Abby Jimenez. While I enjoyed all the books in The Friend Zone series, this was my favourite. It has some emotional moments to it but the overall romance was so heartwarming. I loved seeing the shift in Sloan, despite the hardships she went through.
The Love Wager by Lynn Painter. It’s no surprise that another book by Lynn Painter made my list of favourite books. The Love Wager was a pure delight. The romance was so adorable, the characters are hilarious and Lynn Painter’s writing is captivating.
Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez. Yours Truly is another book by Abby Jimenez that I loved reading this year. The romance between Briana and Jacob was just so cute and I loved that it stemmed from letters. I really think Abby Jimenez is a fantastic writer and I’m so excited to pick up her next book in 2024!
You, with a View by Jessica Joyce. You, with a View was one of my most anticipated romance books and I loved every minute of it. It was such a heartfelt and charming love story. I also loved how connected the main characters were to their grandparents. I think this book released at the perfect time for me.
