The publisher kindly sent me a physical copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
A boy desperate to hold on, a girl ready to let go.
Fitz Holton waits in fear for the day his single mother’s early-onset Alzheimer’s starts stealing her memory. He’s vowed to stay close to home to care for her in the years to come — never mind the ridiculous college tour she’s forcing him on to visit schools where he knows he’ll never go. Juniper Ramirez is counting down the days until she can leave home, a home crowded with five younger siblings and zero privacy. Against the wishes of her tight-knit family, Juniper plans her own college tour of the East Coast with one goal: get out.
When Fitz and Juniper cross paths on their first college tour in Boston, they’re at odds from the moment they meet — while Juniper’s dying to start a new life apart for her family, Fitz faces the sacrifices he must make for his. Their relationship sparks a deep connection — in each other’s eyes, they glimpse alternate possibilities regarding the first big decision of their adult lives.
Time of Our Lives is a story of home and away, of the wonder and weight of memory, of outgrowing fears and growing into the future.
Time Of Our Lives Review
There’s nothing better than curling up with a sweet and charming coming of age young adult novel. Time of Our Lives is just that and more! Another Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka book I’ve loved!
Time of Our Lives follows Fitz and Juniper, two high school seniors on college tours to figure out where they want to go to school. After a chance encounter, the two keep coming across one another and try to navigate their life choices together.
Both Fitz and Juniper are enjoyable characters. Fitz is super sweet, kind, caring and so loyal. Juniper is strong willed but also considerate and charming. It’s so great to see how their opposite personalites balance each other out. It’s almost like their chance encounter is brought about by fate.
The best part about this book is the overall plot. The authors do such a great job at showcasing the emotions that come with figuring out your life. This is especially the case when issues like family, health and anxiety come into play. These aspects make the characters so relatable and their story that much more enjoyable.
My only wish for this book, especially in comparison to Always Never Yours and If I’m Being Honest, is to have felt more with the romance. While these characters are great, at times their romantic connection to each other didn’t translate as much for me. And since I loved the romance in their previous books, I wanted a bit more.
Overall, Time of Our Lives is a great young adult contemporary by one of my favourite author duos. It highlights the emotions that come with deciding the rest of your life so perfectly. I can’t wait for their next book — and if you haven’t read their books yet, certainly check them out!
