Since I’m always on the hunt for great contemporary reads, What If It’s Us has been on my radar. Thankfully, I really enjoyed this book! What If It’s Us follows Arthur and Ben. After meeting at a post office in New York City, they quickly build a friendship over the course of a summer.
The Beauty that Remains by Ashley Woodfolk
The Beauty that Remains is one of those books I thought I would love, but didn’t. There are a few things in this book I enjoyed but also a few things I didn’t like. Because of this, I just think that this book isn’t one for me. The synopsis of this book is really intriguing. While I don’t typically read books about grief, I was curious about this one.
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
In January, the HCC Frenzy team invited me to an advance screening of Love, Simon. Obviously, I jumped on the opportunity! Since I hadn’t read the book yet, I made sure to read it before seeing the movie! Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda follows Simon, a gay teenager who isn’t so open about it. While exchanging e-mails with a boy named Blue, another student discovers it. This ultimately results in blackmailing.
