Presented by James Patterson’s new children’s imprint, this deliciously creepy horror novel has a storyline inspired by the Ripper murders and an unexpected, blood-chilling conclusion …
Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord’s daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.
Against her stern father’s wishes and society’s expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle’s laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.
The story’s shocking twists and turns, augmented with real, sinister period photos, will make this dazzling, #1 New York Times bestselling debut from author Kerri Maniscalco impossible to forget.
Stalking Jack the Ripper Review
Immediately after hearing about Stalking Jack the Ripper, I added it to my TBR. But it’s been sitting there for such a long time. I don’t know why it took so long to read it, but I’m so happy I finally did.
Stalking Jack the Ripper follows Audrey Rose, a young girl in the 1800s with a passion for forensic science. When the Jack the Ripper murders take place, she desperately tries to solve the mystery alongside her friend, Thomas.
I absolutely love and adore these characters. I love them so much that I think they will forever hold a special place in my heart. Audrey is bold, fiesty and certainly breaks the mold of an 1800s young girl. She knows what she wants and she works hard to achieve it.
I also adore Audrey’s relationship with her Uncle. While they share an interest in forensic science, I love that he’s so supportive of her. The dynamic and dialogue between these two characters is so great.
Do not even get me started with Thomas because I just adore him so much. He’s the perfect mystery solving companion but also a wonderful friend. The witty banter between the two of them is fantastic and is certainly swoon-worthy.
I also really enjoy the mystery in this book! There are certainly twists and turns that keep the reader guessing. Sometimes I was able to guess what was going to happen, but it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment. The story is gruesome, eerie and spine chilling at times, but super enjoyable!
Kerri Maniscalco’s writing is fantastic. It flows effortlessly and is just so easy to follow. It makes the reader feel like they’re in the 1800s with Audrey and Thomas while helping them solve the murders.
Overall, I really loved Stalking Jack the Ripper and I can’t wait to continue the series. I wish it didn’t take me so long to read it, but I’m glad I finally did. If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend you do!
