Another month is done, and we’re already half way through another month. So I guess that means I’m very behind on posting my September 2021 reading wrap up!
The time is really getting away from me, especially since things have been so busy lately. I haven’t had a lot of time to work on blog posts, but I’m slowly getting back into the routine.
I also launched my new Instagram account — The Contented Kids, which focuses on the best books for kids and middle grade readers. I’m so excited to share more on that account, so if you’d like to follow along, I’d love to have you!
My reading month wasn’t too bad, especially considering how busy I’ve been. I managed to read seven books in September 2021 and I also hit my Goodreads goal of reading 50 books!

September 2021 Reading Wrap Up
The Royals Next Door by Karina Halle: My first read of the month went really well! I really enjoyed this fun romance set in British Columbia — it has a Royal family and a grumpy body guard, what else could you want? I thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be picking up more of Karina Halle’s books in the future!
Scythe by Neal Shusterman: I read Scythe a few years ago while in Florida. I really enjoyed it but never got around to continuing the series. I re-read Scythe this month while buddy reading the series with a friend. Thankfully, I enjoyed it just as much the second time around, which is great!
Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman: I also read Thunderhead this month, which is great because it was on my list of ten books to read in 2021! Thunderhead was a great sequel to Scythe and I really enjoyed it. The ending really surprised me, and had me jumping to get to the final book.
The Toll by Neal Shusterman: I also read the final book in the Arc of a Scythe trilogy and unfortunately, this one was a bit disappointing to me. I still gave it a three star rating, so not a terrible read! Since I loved the first two books so much, I was hoping for more. Overall, it just fell a little flat for me.
If the Shoe Fits by Julie Murphy: There’s nothing more than a good Disney retelling. If the Shoe Fits is a Cinderella retelling, with a Bachelor/Bachelorette show twist. I really enjoyed this one, and am so excited for Jasmine Guillory’s addition to the series in 2022!
Tools of Engagement by Tessa Bailey: I’m finally caught up on the Hot & Hammered series. After reading It Happened One Summer, I knew it was time to finally read the final book in her previous trilogy. And it did not disappoint! Tessa Bailey creates such fun stories and really entertaining characters!
Becoming the Dark Prince by Kerri Maniscalco: I needed to read something for the Buzzwordathon this month. September’s prompt was dark so I decided to squeeze in a small novella. This was a fun and quick read, especially if you love Thomas.
