The publisher kindly sent me a physical copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Meet Daisy Winters. She’s an offbeat sixteen-year-old Floridian with mermaid-red hair; a part time job at a bootleg Walmart, and a perfect older sister who’s nearly engaged to the Crown Prince of Scotland. Daisy has no desire to live in the spotlight, but relentless tabloid attention forces her to join Ellie at the relative seclusion of the castle across the pond.
While the dashing young Miles has been appointed to teach Daisy the ropes of being regal, the prince’s roguish younger brother kicks up scandal wherever he goes, and tries his best to take Daisy along for the ride. The crown–and the intriguing Miles–might be trying to make Daisy into a lady … but Daisy may just rewrite the royal rulebook to suit herself.
Prince Charming Review
As soon as I heard about this book, I knew it was going to be one I would love! Thankfully, I did.
Prince Charming follows Daisy and all the crazy things that come along with her sister marrying a Scottish Prince. After some crazy tabloid issues, Daisy and her parents travel to Scotland to spend time with the Royal family.
The characters in this book are all really great. But I’m really drawn to the main character, Daisy. She’s extremely relatable and showcases all the trials of a teenager. She makes mistakes, works at a silly job and experiences unrequited love. Because of this, it makes her character down to earth.
Since Daisy is experiencing a totally new world in Scotland. Because of this, a character named Miles helps to show her around. I really enjoyed his character and loved his witty banter with Daisy.
I also thoroughly enjoyed Prince Sebastian – he’s the misfit of the family and you can’t help but root for him.
The plot of this book is enjoyable but I don’t think a lot happened. There are events and some crazy tabloid issues. But I wanted a bit more. Also, the romance is a little underwhelming in this book.
I also love Rachel Hawkins writing! The book has a great pace and I love that she includes the gossip columns. Since the columns play a huge role in the book and in Daisy’s life, it’s a fun addition to the story.
Overall, Prince Charming is a fun contemporary book. The characters really drive the story and I think it’s fun watching them experience a world that’s totally different from their own.
If you like contemporary reads with great characters, than this one is for you.
