March is almost over and spring is finally here! With the warmer weather, it’s the perfect time to curl up with a brand new book. So today, I’m sharing a list of middle grade books to read in April 2019! Since I’m a teacher, I love recommending books to younger readers.
99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne
Since I’ve heard nothing but incredible things about The Hating Game, I went into this book with high expectations. But unfortunately, I didn’t really love this book as much as I thought I would. 99 Percent Mine follows Darcy Barrett who inherits her Grandmother’s cottage, with her twin brother, following her death.
Thomas Wildus and the Book of Sorrows by J.M Bergen
Thomas Wildus and the Book of Sorrows is such a really fun middle grade fantasy. It certainly gives me some modern day Harry Potter vibes! Thomas Wildus and the Book of Sorrows follows 12 year old Thomas. After kung-fu practice he is introduced to a magical book called the Book of Sorrows.
Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare
All good things must come to an end. Queen of Air and Darkness is such a fantastic conclusion to another Shadowhunter series! Queen of Air and Darkness picks up right after the events of Lord of Shadows. The series follows Emma Carstairs and Julian Blackthorn as they try and solve another mystery inside the Shadowhunter world.
By Your Side by Kasie West
After reading Kasie West for the first time last year, I’m slowly making my way through her backlist titles. By Your Side is my favourite Kasie West book so far! By Your Side follows Autumn who is accidentally locked in a library with another student, Dax. It’s all about navigating relationships, friendships, growing up and facing fear and anxiety.
Small Town Hearts by Lillie Vale Review Blog Tour
This book is such a sweet and cute contemporary that showcases all the good and the bad of growing up. It’s a summer full of love, breakups and makeups, and finding yourself. This book has been on my radar, and I’m so glad I loved it!There are so many aspects of this book that I enjoyed. But let me first talk about the characters. These characters were all so enjoyable. Babe is such a wonderful protaganist. She’s super relatable as she desperately wants to enjoy things before change inevitably happens. Which I think is something we can all relate to when growing up.
