October has officially come to an end, which means it’s time to share my October 2021 reading wrap up!
While Halloween is still looking a little different this year, I’m planning on curling up with Young Frankenstein while handing out the candy. And maybe snacking on some of it too! And as soon as it’s over, I’m jumping right into the Christmas season — please tell me I’m not alone!
I had a really great reading month in October, which is great. I read a total of seven books — two 2021 releases, two 2020 releases and the rest were backlist books.
I’m hoping to have another great reading month in November. I hope to read Chain of Iron (finally) and hopefully reading some holiday themed romance books!
If you’d like to stay up to date on my reading throughout the month, be sure to check out my Goodreads page.

October 2021 Reading Wrap Up
The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood: After hearing so much hype surrounding The Love Hypothesis, I knew I had to read it. I really enjoyed this one — it was a really easy and entertaining read. While I didn’t quite love it as much as everyone else, I definitely have Ali Hazelwood’s books on my radar!
Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young: Since I absolutely loved Fable, Namesake and The Last Legacy, I figured it was time to pick up Adrienne Young’s first book. I really enjoyed this one — it’s got such a different feel to it, but it’s just as enjoyable. The characters are full of depth and the storyline sucks you in!
Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie: My third book by Agatha Christie and I loved it. There’s nothign better than a good whodunnit, especially in October. And Agatha Christie really is the queen of murder mysteries. I never see the end coming, which is what I’m looking for! I also watched the adaptation after reading, and I enjoyed it too!
They Wish They Were Us by Jessica Goodman: I’ve had this book on my TBR for a while now. Since it’s being adapted, I really wanted to get to it before it releases. I didn’t really love this one unfortunately. I definitely see the Gossip Girl vibes, but I just felt a little bored throughout. And the ending wasn’t very exciting (in my opinion). I still plan on watching the adaptation and I will definitely give her other book a try!
On Location by Sarah Echavarre Smith: Even though I love reading mysteries in October, I needed to break it up with a light hearted romance. This one is so fun — I loved the on location theme. The creation of a travel TV show along with the backdrop of really intriguing locations was so fun. The characters are really enjoyable too.
The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes: I’ve been wanting to read this one for so long and I’m glad I finally got to it. The Inheritance Games is just full of riddles and puzzling moments. The characters are captiviating — especially those Hawthorne boys! I can’t wait to see what happens in The Hawthorne Legacy.
Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren: Another romance book to break up the them of mysteries throughout the month. This one is on my list of books to read this year, and I’m glad I finally got to it. It’s super cute — not my favourite Christina Lauren book (hello, The Unhoneymooners!) but still fun!
