The publisher kindly provided me with a physical copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Things get textual when a steamy message from a random wrong number turns into a thrilling anonymous relationship in this hilarious rom-com by Lynn Painter.
Bad luck has always followed Olivia Marshall … or maybe she’s just the screw-up her family thinks she is. But when a What are you wearing? text from a random wrong number turns into the hottest, most entertaining—albeit anonymous—relationship of her life, she thinks things might be on the upswing …
Colin Beck has always considered Olivia his best friend’s annoying little sister, but when she moves in with them after one of her worst runs of luck, he realizes she’s turned into an altogether different and sexier distraction. He’s sure he can keep his distance, until the moment he discovers she’s the irresistible Miss Misdial he’s been sort of sexting for weeks—and now he has to decide whether to turn the heat up or ghost her before things get messy.
Mr. Wrong Number Review
After reading Better Than the Movies last year, I knew that Lynn Painter was going to become a new favourite author. Once her debut rom-com was announced, I immediately added it to my most anticipated reads for 2022. I’m so glad I did because this book is great!
Mr. Wrong Number follows Olivia who gets a text from a wrong number. What starts out as an entertaining texting relationship turns out to be the highlight of Olivia’s days. Once she finds out who the texts are coming from, she realizes that everything might change.
I absolutely adored Olivia as a main character. She’s incredibly witty and humourous but most of all, she’s relatable. She draws you in from the very first page and because of her bad luck, you can’t help but root for her.
Colin is a great love interest. He’s elusive and mysterious, which certainly leaves you turning the pages wanting more. It’s sweet to see how his view of Olivia changes throughout the length of the book. She goes from an annoying little sister of his best friend to someone he can’t stop thinking about. While it’s an interesting shift because of the wrong text, it’s so fun to watch.
Lynn Painter has a special way of making her readers laugh and this book is no different. From the very first page you’re laughing at the texts or comments that Olivia makes. It’s just the perfect addition to a story that’s already fun and entertaining in its own way.
I am so excited to read all of Lynn Painter’s upcoming books. It’s not often that I find an author who can do young adult and adult rom-coms so well, but she does. I definitely know that she’s on my list of auto-buy authors and I can’t wait to see what she comes out with next.
If you’re looking for a laugh out loud rom-com, then this is the book for you. It’s a heartwarming story with funny moments and a sweet love story.
