My name is Katniss Everdeen.
Why Am I Not Dead?
I Should Be Dead.
Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. Gale has escaped. Katniss’ family is safe. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol, District 13 really does exist. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding.
It is by design that Katniss was rescued from the arena in the cruel and haunting Quarter Quell. It is also by design that she has long been part of the revolution without knowing it. District 13 has come out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. Everyone, it seems, has had a hand in the carefully laid plans — except Katniss.
The success of the rebellion hinges on Katniss’ willingness to be a pawn, to accept responsibility for countless lives, and to change the course of the future of Panem. To do this, she must put aside her feelings of anger and distrust. She must become the rebels’ Mockingjay — no matter what the personal cost.
Mockingjay Review
Well, my re-read of The Hunger Games trilogy is officially done! And I’m finally ready to jump into the new release of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes!
Since Mockingjay is the final book in The Hunger Games, it picks up right after the events of the second book. Because of the events of Catching Fire, there is a lot of politics and plotting in this final book.
I’ve always been vocal about loving the characters in these books and my feelings really haven’t changed with this last book. This is because Katniss is such a strong and bold main character. Her loyalty and ambition is so enjoyable and is better in each book.
Peeta also grows as a character through each book. Because of his growth, you can’t help but love him. He’s so enjoyable overall but he’s especially great because of how reliable and loyal he is.
One of the main reasons I love this series is the game aspect because it brings adventure and action. But it also shows Katniss’ strength and growth throughout the series.
While Mockingjay wraps up the story, it also focuses more on politics and rebellion. While there is still action because of the fighting and rebellion, I did miss the game itself.
Overall, Mockingjay is a good ending to a wonderful series. While I enjoyed the first two books a bit more, I still adore this series as a whole. If you haven’t read it before, I highly recommend checking it out!
