May is officially ending, which makes it the perfect time to share my May 2023 reading wrap up!
Even though I just shared my April reading wrap up the other day, I’m excited to get back into a regular routine of blogging.
While May was busy, I’m looking forward to the warmer weather and soaking in the reading time outside. Whether it’s outside by the pool, or on the dock at the cottage, I know I’ll be getting some great reading time in June! I’m also hoping to tackle some of the longer books on my TBR during the summer months, so wish me luck!
In May, I read a total of five books — four 2023 releases and one backlist book. I seem to be keeping up with the trend of five books a month, so we’ll see what happens in June!

May 2023 Reading Wrap Up
Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q Sutanto. While I haven’t read all of Jesse Q Sutanto’s books yet, I just love her stories. Her stories are full of humour and charm and this one is no different. Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers was so entertaining. I loved the premise and all of the characters — especially Vera. This one was definitely a fun read!
Marrying Off Morgan McBride by Amy Barry. After reading Kit McBride Gets a Wife last year, I’ve been eagerly waiting for the sequel. When I got access to an advance copy, I immediately started reading and I’m so glad I did because it was just as good as the first book. I just love this series so much — the characters are charming, the romance is incredibly sweet and the banter within the McBride family truly is the best. I really hope we get more books in this series!
Unfortunately Yours by Tessa Bailey. While I didn’t love Secretly Yours as much as I hoped, I really loved Unfortunately Yours. This book had all my favourite romance elements all wrapped up in Tessa Bailey’s signature writing. There’s enemies-to-lovers, marriage of convenience and swoon-worthy romance. This one definitely hit the mark for me and I can definitely see myself re-reading it in the future!
The Honey Don’t List by Christina Lauren. The Honey Don’t List has been sitting on my shelf for quite a long time. Since I needed to read a book with a flavour related title for the buzzwordathon challenge this month, I figured I would finally pick it up. This one was an enjoyable read. It didn’t blow me away, but I was entertained the whole way through.
Happy Place by Emily Henry. I really enjoyed Emily Henry’s newest release! Happy Place is really a great summer read — I found plenty of moments to read this book by the pool and it did not disappoint. I loved the friendships and the setting in this one. The romance is solid and definitely kept me turning the page, but I love that this is a friendship centered book at its core.
Vacation Wars by Meghan Quinn. Since getting Kindle Unlimited at the beginning of the year, I’ve really enjoyed picking up Meghan Quinn’s books. Her newest release is really fun — I love the Greek setting and the childhood love that the book focuses on. At times it was a bit silly for me and I didn’t love all the side characters, so it’s not up at the top of the list as one of my favourites. But it was still enjoyable and perfect for the start of summer reading!

I wasn’t a fan of Secretly Yours either and had kinda decided to skip Unfortunately Yours but I might take a second look. Thanks for your post!
