While backpacking through Florence, Italy, during the summer before she heads off to college, Lucy Sommersworth finds herself falling in love with the culture, the architecture, the food … and Jesse Palladino, a handsome street musician. After a whirlwind romance, Lucy returns home, determined to move on from her “vacation flirtation.” But just because summer is over doesn’t mean Lucy and Jesse have to be, does it?
In this stunning novel, April Lindner perfectly captures the highs and lows of a summer love that might just be meant to last beyond the season.
Love Lucy Review
Young adult contemporary books with some romance sprinkled in, is definitely my favourite to read. They’re always so enjoyable to read, which makes them a great go-to book.
Love, Lucy is a really charming and adorable contemporary romance that is perfect for summer. I picked it up on a whim recently because of my love for the cover!
Love Lucy follows Lucy, a teenage girl backpacking through Italy with her best friend. In between Italian sight-seeing and lots of food, Lucy meets a really cute street musician named Jesse. The rest, is history!
Lucy is a wonderful main character because she’s super relatable. She also reminds me of feelings that every teenage girl experiences at some point.
Jesse is a fun romantic interest. He certainly has a unique outlook on life and it can be seen through his personal journey. He’s super cute and is a refreshing, lovable character.
Another thing I loved is the setting. Love Lucy gives me such wanderlust for Italy. While only a small portion of the book actually takes place in Italy, it jumps through the pages. I can’t wait for the next time that I’ll be able to go back to Italy for a visit!
Overall, Love Lucy is a really great book. It has such a similar vibe to Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch.
I would recommend it to anyone wanting a fun contemporary romance for the summer or if you’re a fan of books set in another country!
