Talking to other people isn’t Kate Bailey’s favorite activity. She’d much rather be out on the lake, soaking up the solitude and sunshine. So when her best friend, Alana, convinces Kate to join their high school’s podcast, Kate is not expecting to be chosen as the host. Now she’ll have to answer calls and give advice on the air? Impossible.
But to Kate’s surprise, she turns out to be pretty good at the hosting gig. Then the podcast gets in a call from an anonymous guy, asking for advice about his unnamed crush. Kate is pretty sure that the caller is gorgeous Diego Martinez, and even surer that the girl in question is Alana. Kate is excited for her friend … until Kate herself starts to develop feelings for Diego. Suddenly, Kate finds that while doling out wisdom to others may be easy, asking for help is tougher than it looks, and following your own advice is even harder.
Kasie West’s adorable story of secrets, love, and friendship is sure to win over hearts everywhere.
Listen to Your Heart Review
Wow, I really love this book. So far, it is my favourite Kasie West book and I’ve honestly enjoyed every one of her books. While I still have several more of her backlist to read, this one is sitting at the top of my list!
Listen to Your Heart follows Kate who lives by a lake and always wants to be in it. But, she decides to become more involved in her school community. So along with her best friend, she joins the podcast class and gives advice to fellow classmates.
Kate is a character I really relate to because when she’s not at the lake, she’s thinking of it. As some who has a cottage, this is totally me. But I also love her personality and her determination. She’s just a perfect main character!
The other side characters are also great! Diego is just so sweet and I absolutely love his banter with Kate. Alana is such a wonderful friend, too! They both just tug at my heartstrings!
The podcast is definitely my favourite aspect of this book! The theme of giving people advice is just really heartwarming. The way that Kate struggles with opening up is something so many of us can relate to. But, her character truly develops throughout the course of working on the podcast. Because of it, she becomes comfortable in her own skin.
One of the main reasons I love Kasie West so much is because of her fluffy plots and relatable characters. I think this is definitely the case with Listen to Your Heart. It’s the first of her books I’ve given five stars. I just loved it so, so much! I’ll certainly be gushing about it for a while!
Overall, I highly, highly recommend Listen to Your Heart. It’s charming, heartwarming and just so adorable. If you’re a fan of contemporary books or just light, fluffy reads, then this one is definitely for you!
