The publisher kindly sent me a physical copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win.
After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister, Scarlett, from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isnβt yet free. She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legendβs true name.
The only chance of uncovering Legendβs identity is to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more β and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets … including her sister’s. Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice, but now the game is asking for more. If Tella canβt fulfill her bargain and deliver Legendβs name, sheβll lose everything she cares about β maybe even her life. But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever …
Welcome, welcome to Caraval … the games have only just begun.
Legendary Review
After reading Caraval last year, it quickly became my most favourite read of the year. Needless to say, I’ve eagerly been waiting for the release of Legendary and I’m so happy I loved it!
Legendary picks up after the events of Caraval. Instead of following Scarlett, Legendary follows Tella and her experiences in this magical world.
At first, I didn’t think I was going to enjoy Tella’s perspective but I loved her! I honestly think I enjoyed her more than Scarlett. She’s so sassy! But she’s also fierce, dependable and knowledgable. It’s amazing that she defends the people she loves with such passion!
The other characters in this book are just as entertaining! We get more time with characters from the first book – Scarlett, Julian and Dante. This book also introduces a set of characters called The Fates – they’re all so mysterious! It just adds an interesting element to the world!
Another aspect that’s great in this book is the romance. There are quite a few romantic elements to this story that don’t overpower the story, but really compliment the overall enjoyment of the book.
I’m happy with the plot of this book. Caraval is a fun and mysterious game but it also comes with its sacrifices. With Legendary, we get deeper into the world – it’s not just about a game this time. You’re constantly left wanting more.
I am so unbelievably excited for the third and final book in this series, Finale. You’ll feel satisfied with Legendary but you’ll desperately want to know what happens next.
Overall, I highly recommend this series. A lot is revealed in this book, but things are not always what they appear to be. I’m curious as to how much is real and how much is a trick!

It’s the absolute BEST when a sequel seems to be even better and more developed than the first book! I do hope you love the third even more. I really need to start this series soon. π
