This year has been wonderful for book releases. Thankfully, there are so many more books to look forward to. I’m sharing a list of the new books I can’t wait to read in July to December 2022!
Over the years, my reading tastes have certainly changed. I love that I’m finding the genres that I really enjoy because I’m spending more time reading books that I truly love.
On this list you’ll find my most anticipated young adult and adult fiction books releasing in July to December 2022. I typically read contemporary, romance, mystery and fantasy — with some other genres sprinkled in between.
If you’re looking for the best new books to read in 2022, I’m sure you’ll find some new books to add to your TBR with this list!

July 2022 Books
A Disaster in Three Acts by Kelsey Rodkey. When her childhood best friend comes back into her life, Saine ends up working with him to get into the documentary program of her dreams. It’s going to be a super cute contemporary romance!
Below Zero by Ali Hazelwood. The STEMinist Novellas have been super cute and I’m looking forward to the final book. Below Zero follows Hannah, who gets stranded at a research facility in the arctic. While there, the only person who will help rescue her is her nemesis, Ian.
Dream On by Angie Hockman. When Cass wakes up from a car crash, she has memories of a boyfriend who doesn’t exist. A year later, she runs into the man from her dreams and it seems like fate pulls them together.
The Charmed List by Julie Abe. The Charmed List is the perfect mix of childhood friendship, swoony romance and magic. When Ellie decides to make a bucket list for the summer to help her get out of her shell, she doesn’t expect a road trip with her ex-best friend and nemesis, Jack to be on the list. Spoiler alert: I read an early copy and absolutely adored it!
The Summer of Christmas by Juliet Giglio and Keith Giglio. The first of many holiday romances on this list! The Summer of Christmas follows Ivy, a screenwriter who writes a movie based on her love story with her high school sweetheart. When they start filming the movie in her hometown, she’s forced to confront her ex.
The It Girl by Ruth Ware. There’s nothing better than a good mystery thriller. Ruth Ware’s newest release follows April as she tries to investigate the murder of her best friend, a decade after it happened.
From the Jump by Lacie Waldon. When Liv decides to visit South Africa with her friends, she doesn’t expect her friendship with Lucas to grow. Once they’re back in LA, she learns to jump out of her comfort zone and explore things that make her uncomfortable. It’s a sweet friends-to-lovers story that sounds super adorable!
Never Never by Serena Valentino. There’s nothing better than a Disney story — especially one on a Disney villain! Never Never is the story of Captain Hook, before Peter Pan and Wendy and how he became the pirate we all know!
The Sweetest Connection by Denise Williams. The Airport Novellas are super cute — everything Denise Williams writes is a good time. The Sweetest Connection follows Teagan, who works at a candy shop inside the airport. When she finds an abandoned love letter, she gets her best friend Silas to help her find the owner. But along the way, she and Silas have to decide if their friendship is really the start of something more.
Accomplished by Amanda Quain. A super cute Pride & Prejudice retelling set inside a boarding school. When Georgie Darcy returns to school for her junior year after being temporarily expelled, she works to rebuild her reputation and play matchmaker for her big brother Fitz and Lizzie Bennett.
Booked on a Feeling by Jayci Lee. After dealing with the burnout from work, Lizzy heads back home where she runs into her childhood best friend, Jack. While there, they work together to revap the local bookstore and realize that love may have been in front of them the entire time.
Long Story Short by Serena Kaylor. A sweet contemporary about a homeschooled math genuis who attends theatre camp for the summer. There’s nothing better than budding friendships, newfound romance and going outside of your comfort zone.
Padawan by Kiersten White. I’m currently watching the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+ and enjoying it! Padawan follows Obi-Wan when he is younger as he learns to use the Force and find his place.
Violet Made of Thorns by Gina Chen. When Violet is asked by the King to falsify a love prophesy, she awakens a curse that could end or save the kingdom. It’s a fantasy debut with a witch, a cursed prince, and romance. What could be better than that?
August 2022 Books
How to Date a Superhero (And Not Die Trying) by Cristina Fernandez. When Max comes back into her life, Astrid has to deal with balancing her romance with a real life superhero. It’s going to be such a fun story, I can already tell!
Just Another Love Song by Kerry Winfrey. I really enjoy Kerry Winfrey’s books and I’m so looking forward to her newest release. Just Another Love Song follows two high school sweethearts as they get a second chance at love.
Long Live the Pumpkin Queen by Shea Ernshaw. When Sally opens up a door to an ancient realm called Dream Town, she puts her future as the Pumpkin Queen at risk. It’s going to be such a fun adventure with Jack and Sally!
My Imaginary Mary by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows. Another addition to the Mary series! My Imaginary Mary tells the story of Mary Shelley. It’s the perfect mixture of humour, magical realism and history!
The Hookup Plan by Farrah Rochon. I’m so excited to pick up London’s love story in the final book of The Boyfriend Project series! It’s an enemies-to-lovers story and I just know I’m going to love it!
The King Will Kill You by Sarah Henning. The final book in the Kingdoms of Sand and Sky trilogy! I don’t know much about this one because I haven’t read the first two books yet — I’ve been waiting for them all to be released to read them. But the influence of The Princess Bride is enough to sell me on these books!
Wild is the Witch by Rachel Griffin. When Iris accidentally starts a curse, she needs to work with a boy who hates witches to fix everything. I’m looking forward to the witches and the adventure!
Luck & Last Resorts by Sarah Grunder Ruiz. Another second chance romance story I’m looking forward to! Luck and Last Resorts follows Nina, a stewardess on a yacht, who gets a visit from her ex-fling Ollie. They have one charter season to see if they have a connection or he’ll go back to Ireland for good.
Mr. Perfect on Paper by Jean Meltzer. When Dara’s bubbe shares her checklist to find the perfect husband on national TV, her story is turned into must-see TV. I’m so excited to read this one — it’s going to be the perfect mixture of humour and romance.
Belladonna by Adalyn Grace. I’m super excited for this dark, gothic fantasy! When Signa gets a visit from her mother’s spirit, she learns that her mother was poisoned. Determined to find the killer, she gets the help of a stable boy and aligns herself with Death to get answers.
Lightlark by Alex Aster. Lightlark sounds like The Hunger Games with more romance, and I’m so excited to read it! Every 100 years the island of Lightlark appears to host The Centennial, a deady game that the rulers of six realms are invited to play. Isla is the ruler of Wildling, a realm with temptresses cursed to kill anyone they love unless they succeed at The Centennial. It’s also been picked up for a movie at Universal, ahead of its release!
Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood. Even though The Love Hypothesis wasn’t my favourite, I’m still excited to read Ali Hazelwood’s newest release. Love on the Brain follows Bee, a scientist who is forced to work with her enemy on a project. I love enemies-to-lovers so here’s hoping it’s a fun read!
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna. There are so many witchy books releasing this year! When Mika is invited to a mysterious house to help teach young witches, she meets Jamie, the librarian. While they start off as rivals, there may be something more underneath the surface.
Those Summer Nights by Laura Silverman. There’s nothing better than adorable young adult romantic comedies. Those Summer Nights follows Hannah who gets a summer job at an entertainment multiplex. While there, she deals with her cute co-worked Patrick, he ex-best friend Brie, and her brother’s best friend Ethan, who has gotten cuter in the past year.
Nothing More to Tell by Karen M McManus. I really enjoy Karen M McManus’ mystery books and I’m excited for her newest release. Nothing More to Tell follows Brynn as she tries to investigate the murder of her favourite teacher, four years earlier.
The Final Gambit by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. I don’t know anything about this book other than the fact that it’s the final book in The Inheritance Games trilogy. I’ve only read the first book but I’m excited to see how everything wraps up in this fun series!
Three Kisses, One Midnight by Roshani Chokshi, Sandhya Menon and Evelyn Skye. Three authors come together to weave a story about finding true love. It’s a mixture of fantasy and romance and I’m so excited to see what these three great authors come up with!
September 2022 Books
Almost There by Farrah Rochon. Another addition to the Twisted Tales series! Almost There follows Tiana as she makes a deal that changes the course of everything. I love this series and the way they twist classic Disney stories!
Angelika Frankenstein Makes Her Match by Sally Thorne. I’m excited for Sally Thorne’s newest release, especially since it’s so different from her other books. In this historical rom-com, Frankenstein’s younger sister Angelika aims to create the perfect man. I’m so excited to see how this one turns out and I really hope I end up enjoying it!
Do You Take This Man by Denise Williams. I love Denise Williams and her books! Do You Take This Man is an enemies-to-lovers that follows RJ, a divorce attorney who officiates an unplanned wedding. After a video of her officiating goes viral, she meets Lear, an event planner she’s forced to work with. It sounds so fun and I can’t wait!
Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings. When Lizzie breaks her main rule and has a two-night stand, things change quickly when she learns she’s pregnant. While this is somewhat different from what I normally read, I’m excited to see how things play out. Plus, this cover is just so cute!
Monsters Born and Made by Tanvi Berwah. This fantasy about monsters seems like a perfect book for my fall reading plans. Koral and her brother fight and capture monsters to help their family survive. After a monster escapes, Koral has to cheat her way into the Glory Race, a deadly competition for the elite. There’s monsters, adventure and romance — there’s nothing better than that!
The American Roommate Experiment by Elena Armas. While I haven’t read The Spanish Love Deception yet, I’m definitely hoping to pick up Elena Armas’ new release. When Rosie goes to live at her friend Nina’s place while she’s out of town, she doesn’t expect the apartment to be in use by Nina’s cousin Lucas. I love forced proximity romance books so I’m hoping I enjoy this one!
The Boy with the Bookstore by Sarah Echavarre. When Joelle meets the bookshop owner nextdoor to her bakery, their flirtation seems to be perfect. After they find out that their stores need to be renovated and they need to share a space, they quickly turn into enemies. It’s supposed to be a cute mixture of enemies-to-lovers and second chance romance, and I can’t wait.
The Weight of Blood by Tiffany D Jackson. I don’t read a lot of thriller books but I’m definitely interested in reading Tiffay D Jackson’s newest release. It follows Maddy, who has been passing as white her entire life and is outed as being biracial. A surprise rain storm outs a closely kept secret and everything comes to a head on the night of prom.
There’s Something About Merry by Codi Hall. Another holiday romance I’m looking forward to this year! Merry Winters has the holiday blues but the new foreman at her family’s Christmas Tree Farm starts to catch her eye. Even though he’s not looking for love, sometimes the magic of Christmas brings people together.
I’m the Girl by Courtney Summers. When Georgia discovers the dead body of Ashley, she works with Ashley’s older sister Nora to find the killer. Courtney Summers always delivers intriguing mystery thrillers and I’m looking forward to her next release.
Lucy on the Wild Side by Kerry Rea. I’m so excited to read this one and I absolutely adore the cover! When Lucy learns that a wildlife docu-series is filming at the zoo she works at, she’s excited to showcase the gorillas that she works with. But the host Kai is more concerned with ratings then he is with the animals. While they butt heads with one another, there may be more underneath the surface.
Marple: Twelve New Mysteries by Agatha Christie. I’m a big fan of Agatha Christie and as soon as I heard about this book, I immediately pre-ordered it. Twelve mystery authors write short stories featuring Christie’s famous detective, Miss Marple. I’m particularly excited for the stories by Karen M McManus, Leigh Bardugo, Lucy Foley and Ruth Ware!
The Ballad of Never After by Stephanie Garber. I don’t know much about this book and I definitely want to keep it that way! The Ballad of Never After is the sequel to Once Upon a Broken Heart and it focuses on Jacks, the Prince of Hearts!
The Make-Up Test by Jenny L Howe. I love a good enemies-to-lovers story and this one sounds so good! The Make-Up Test follows two college exes as they battle for a spot in a literature PhD program while they also deal with old feelings.
A Merry Little Meet Cute by Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone. This is probably my most anticipated holiday romance for this year! A Merry Little Meet Cute follows Bee, a plus sized adult film star who is cast as the lead in a Christmas movie and her co-star is childhood crush, Nolan. It’s going to be so adorable!
Drunk on Love by Jasmine Guillory. I’ve read every one of Jasmine Guillory’s books and I’m excited for her next release! When Margot has a one-night stand to help relieve the stress of her family’s winery, she doesn’t expect him to be their newest hire.
When In Rome by Sarah Adams. There’s nothing better than a sweet and charming opposites attract romance. When pop star Amelia decides she needs a break, she heads to Rome, Kentucky. While there, she meets Noah, a baker who happens to be a little bit grumpy. It’s going to be so swoony and I’m excited to pick it up!
Foul Lady Fortune by Chloe Gong. Duologies are some of my favourite series to read — it’s nice when you don’t have to invest so much time in a great story. Foul Lady Fortune follows two spies who pose as a married couple in 1930s Shanghai to investigate a series of murders.
Kingdom of the Feared by Kerri Maniscalco. The final book in the Kingdom of the Wicked series! The series follows Emilia, a witch who investigates the death of her twin sister with the help of a Prince of Hell, Wrath. It’s a steamy, adventurous story and while I’m sad to see it coming to an end, I can’t wait to read it!
Meet Me Under the Mistletoe by Jenny Bayliss. When Elinor decides to host a reunion during the holidays at her bookstore, she doesn’t expect her former fling, Isaac to come back into her life.
Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young. I am a huge fan of Adrienne Young and I am so excited to read her adult debut! There’s murder, mystery, magical realism and so much more and I just can’t wait.
Spells for Lost Things by Jenna Evans Welch. Another super cute contemporary romance from Jenna Evans Welch! When Willow goes to Salem, Massachusetts for the summer she meets Mason. It’s a story about discovering the past and finding yourself, all with a little romance sprinkled in.
Talk Santa to Me by Linda Urban. This book is pitched as perfect for fans of Hallmark Christmas movies and that sounds perfect for me! It follows Francie as she tries to save the nostalgia of her family’s holiday shop and kiss the boy next door at the Christmas tree lot!
Well, That Was Unexpected by Jesse Q Sutanto. I am so excited for this book! When Sharlot is suddenly taken to her mother’s native Indonesia, she starts fake dating the son of one of the wealthiest families. I can’t wait for the fake-dating trope mixed with Jesse Q Sutanto’s signature humour!
October 2022 Books
All I Want for Christmas by Maggie Knox. When Sadie and Max are paired up for a duet on a reality TV singing competition, the last thing they expect is for their chemistry to go viral. They decide to continue fake dating but neither of them expects to find true love.
Just Like Magic by Sarah Hogle. When Bettie accidentally conjures Hall, a holiday spirit in the form of a man, she doesn’t expect to be the happiest she’s ever been. But the happier she is, the less time Hall will have on Earth. I’m excited for this holiday romance with some magical realism, it sounds so fun!
Prince of Song and Sea by Linsey Miller. As a Disney lover, I really enjoy retellings! Prince of Song and Sea follows Prince Eric and tells the story of The Little Mermaid from his perspective.
So This is Christmas by Jenny Holiday. The final book in the Princess for Christmas series. When Matteo helps a management consultant who is hired to help the king’s financial affairs, they start working together to fix Eldovia. It’s going to be a super cute holiday romance!
The Christmas Clash by Suzanne Park. A holiday rom-com with an enemies-to-lovers storyline sounds perfect to me. Chloe and Peter are rivals but when they find out each of their parents holiday stores are at a risk of closing, they work together to help save the mall.
Everyone Hates Kelsie Miller by Meredith Ireland. Kelsie Miller hates Eric but she ends up on a road trip with him to win back her best friend Briana and his girlfriend Jessica. I love these enemies-to-lovers forced proximity stories and I have a lot of high hopes for this one!
A Cosmic Kind of Love by Samantha Young. I’m a big fan of books with a space theme so I’m excited about this romance! When Hallie sends e-mails to the discontinued e-mail of an astronaut she doesn’t expect that he’ll ever see them. When the astronaut returns to earth and reads the messages, he quickly learns that they have a really strong connection.
Drizzle, Dreams and Lovestruck Things by Maya Prasad. A sweet and charming contemporary that follows four sisters during four seasons and four different relationships. I love the focus on family and sisterhood in this one so I’m excited to see how I enjoy it!
Night of the Raven, Dawn of the Dove by Rati Mehrotra. Historical fiction and fantasy mixed into one with monsters, princes, and adventure? Sounds like a great read for me! While I don’t know much more about it, I’m excited to jump into it when it releases!
Partners in Crime by Alisha Rai. When Mira meets Naveen, she feels like she’s found the perfect man. But after her aunt suddenly dies, a last minute trip to Las Vegas turns chaotic and she hopes her relationship with Naveen can survive through it.
The Stand-Up Groomsman by Jackie Lau. A follow up to Donut Fall in Love, this one follows Vivian and Melvin. As bridesmaid and groomsman, Vivian and Melvin put aside their differences and work together to ensure that their friends have the best wedding ever.
November 2022 Books
A Very Merry Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams. I’m such a fan of the Bromance Book Club series and I’m so excited we’re getting a holiday book! We’re finally getting Colton’s story and it’s supposed to be a second chance romance set during the holidays.
Salt and Sugar by Rebecca Carvalho. This book sounds super adorable! It follows the grandchildren of two rival Brazilian bakeries. That one sentence is all it took to add this book to my TBR!
Better Than Fiction by Alexa Martin. There’s nothing better than a romance set in a bookstore! When Drew inherits her grandmother’s bookstore she doesn’t expect to fall for Jasper when he comes in for a signing event. I feel like this one is going to be so charming and cute!
Gleanings by Neal Shusterman. I really enjoyed the Scythe trilogy so I’m excited to jump back into the world with Gleanings. Neal Shusterman and other authors like David Yoon contribute to short stories set in the world of the Arc of a Scythe trilogy. We’re supposed to get origin stories and so much more!
Scattered Showers by Rainbow Rowell. While I don’t read many short stories, I’m excited for this one! Rainbow Rowell is sharing nine short love stories in Scattered Showers!
Whiteout by Dhonielle Clayton. I really enjoyed reading Blackout so I’m excited to read this companion when it releases! I love how these authors weave together a story with their own signature writing styles. I’m hoping I enjoy this one just as much as Blackout.
Ship Wrecked by Olivia Dade. When Maria has a one-night stand she doesn’t expect him to be her co-star on a film on an island in Ireland. I’m so excited for this romantic comedy, it seems like it’s going to be a lot of fun.
The Do-Over by Lynn Painter. Lynn Painter has quickly become a favourite author and I’m super excited to read her next young adult book! The Do-Over follows Emilie who has the worst Valentine’s Day ever and now has to relive it over and over again. It’s Groundhog Day as a romantic comedy and I can’t wait.
At Midnight by Dahlia Adler. Fairy tales reimagined, need I say more? I’ve enjoyed young adult anthologies recently so I’m excited to see the twisty retellings we get in this collection.
Saint by Adrienne Young. This is probably my most anticipated book for the rest of the year. As soon as my preorder comes in, I’m dropping everything to read it. The Fable duology is one of my favourites and I am ecstatic that we are getting Saint and Isolde’s story!!
December 2022 Books
Well Traveled by Jen DeLuca. The Well Met series is so much fun and I’m excited for the newest addition. Well Traveled will follow Mitch’s cousin Lulu as she tries to find love. I just love the renaissance faire theme with these books!
Witcha Gonna Do? by Avery Flynn. When an unlucky witch with no magical powers accidentally curses her family, she teams up with her annoying nemesis Gil to try and fix things. This one sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun!
So, This is Love by Tracy Andreen. This is a follow up to So, This is Christmas that was released last year. It follows Finley and Arthur as they try to figure out what they are at boarding school. It’s a romantic comedy with a little bit of drama mixed in.
Nine Liars by Maureen Johnson. Nine Liars is another addition to the Truly Devious series! Stevie goes to London to join David for his study abroad program where she’s introduced to a new double murder cold case. These murder mysteries are always interesting so I’m excited to read this next one!
