I can’t believe the first month of the year is finished and it’s time to share my January 2025 reading wrap up!
I’m always excited for a brand new reading year. It’s always so nice to start the year off with fresh new reading goals and brand new books to dive into.
January has been a slower reading month for me, especially when compared with past years. I’ve been working on so many things behind the scenes (which I’m excited to share with you all soon) and reading has taken a little bit of a backseat.
That being said, I’ve still had a wonderful reading month and I’m excited to see what February brings for me.
In January, I managed to read four books — one brand new release and three backlist titles. While it’s not the best reading month for me, I truly enjoyed everything I picked up!

January 2025 Reading Wrap Up
The Rival by Emma Lord. Since Emma Lord’s debut, I’ve picked up her newest release as my first read of the year. The Rival is such a cute and lighthearted young adult contemporary. I enjoyed the characters, the college setting and the magazine club. I also enjoyed the history that these characters had with each other and how their time at college allowed them to move from rivals to friends, to something more.
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah. The Great Alone was the monthly pick for my book club. But, most of my group didn’t want to read it because Kristin Hannah tends to write emotional stories. While I agree, I still wanted to pick this one up, especially since I went to Alaska last year. I absolutely adored every minute of this heartfelt story. It’s full of emotion, both negative and positive. But there’s also such a strong message of hope and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I really need to read more of Kristin Hannah’s books!
Dirty Diana by Jen Besser and Shana Feste. Dirty Diana was the bonus pick for my book club and it’s the book my group wanted to read. Unfortunately I did not love this book. I think there are elements that I enjoyed, but overall it fell flat for me. While it is a short book, I think I felt a little underwhelmed. Sometimes short books need to pack more punch in it for it to work for me. Part of me is curious about the next two books, so we’ll see if I decide to pick them up or not!
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. With the release of Onyx Storm, I wanted to re-read the first two books in the series. It’s been quite a while since I’ve read both Fourth Wing and Iron Flame, so I need a refresher! I have to admit, I really enjoyed my re-read of Fourth Wing and it makes me even more excited to continue my re-read of the series before jumping into Onyx Storm. I’ve heard some really conflicting thoughts about the newest addition to the series, both from friends and online, so I’m curious to see what I think!
