A romance novel–obsessed social media influencer revisits her exes on her hunt for true love in this romantic comedy from the author of Set On You.
Romance-novel connoisseur Tara Chen has had her heart broken ten times by ten different men—all of whom dumped her because of her “stage-five clinger” tendencies. Nevertheless, Tara is determined to find The One. The only problem? Classic meet-cutes are dead thanks to modern dating apps. So Tara decides to revisit her exes in hopes of securing her very own trope-worthy second-chance romance.
Boston firefighter Trevor Metcalfe will be the first to rush into a burning building but the last to rush into a relationship. Love just isn’t his thing. When his new roommate Tara enlists him to help her reconnect with her exes, he reluctantly agrees. But Tara’s journey is leading him to discover his own new chapter.
The more time they spend together, the more Tara realizes Trevor seems to be the only one who appreciates her authentic, dramatic self. To claim their happily-ever-after, can Tara and Trevor read between the lines of their growing connection?
Exes and O’s Book Review
After reading Set on You last year, I really didn’t think Amy Lea’s next book could top it. I’m so glad I was wrong — because Exes and O’s is fantastic and it happens to be my first five star read of the year!
Exes and O’s is the second book in The Influencer series. While it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.
It follows Tara, a hopeless romantic who desperately wants to find ‘the one.’ With the help of her new roommate Trevor, she attempts to rekindle with her past relationships so she can have her shot at a second chance romance. As they spend more time together, what she’s looking for may be right in front of her.
I absolutely love Tara — she’s quirky and dramatic but her belief in love is adorable. I love that she goes on this quest so she can be like the romantic heroine she admires in the pages of her books.
Trevor is such a wonderful love interest. While he’s broody and closed off, I love that he lets Tara bring out a side of him that he hides. It’s so sweet to see their relationship grow throughout the book.
The romance is totally swoon-worthy and if you’re a fan of slow-burn romance tropes, you’ll love this book. A lot of the book focuses on Tara meeting with her exes — so her relationship with Trevor slowly builds in the background.
Overall, Exes and O’s is a really fun and entertaining read. I highly recommend picking it up — and if you haven’t read Set on You yet, I recommend that as well!
