Hope warms the coldest night.
Feyre, Rhys, and their close-knit circle of friends are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly-changed world beyond. But Winter Solstice is finally near, and with it, a hard-earned reprieve.
Yet even the festive atmosphere can’t keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated–scars that will have far-reaching impact on the future of their Court.
A Court of Frost and Starlight Review
After reading the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. I love the world and characters so much, I needed more of them in my life!
A Court of Frost and Starlight is a novella set after the events of A Court of Wings and Ruin. It also serves as a bridge to the next three books that will release in the coming years.
It’s no secret that I love the characters in this series. They all warm my heart in so many different ways. I love being back in this world and seeing the characters engage in happy moments instead of gearing up for war.
Another thing I loved is the perspectives in this book. Not only do we get Feyre’s perspective, but we get the view of other characters. It’s so fun reading their thoughts and interactions outside of Feyre. I especially love the perspective of Cassian and Nesta!
While this is a short look back into the world, I’m pleased with the novella. The main thing I love about this book is watching the characters interact with each other without needing to scheme. Despite loving fantasy and action packed settings, I enjoyed the break in this book!
While a lot of people have discussed the “lack of plot”, there are so many moments in this book that make my heart happy. It’s important to remember that this book serves as a bridge – it helps to close up storylines, and create new ones for the next trilogy.
Overall, I really loved A Court of Frost and Starlight. It’s a relaxing storyline with wonderful characters. The writing is spectacular as always.
Sarah J Maas certainly has me excited for the upcoming books! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us.
