Avery West’s newfound family can shut down Prada when they want to shop in peace, and can just as easily order a bombing when they want to start a war. Part of a powerful and dangerous secret society called the Circle, they believe Avery is the key to an ancient prophecy. Some want to use her as a pawn. Some want her dead.
To unravel the mystery putting her life in danger, Avery must follow a trail of clues from the monuments of Paris to the back alleys of Istanbul with two boys who work for the Circle — beautiful, volatile Stellan and mysterious, magnetic Jack. But as the clues expose a stunning conspiracy that might plunge the world into World War 3, she discovers that both boys are hiding secrets of their own. Now she will have to choose not only between freedom and family — but between the boy who might help her save the world, and the one she’s falling in love with.
The Conspiracy of Us Review
I got The Conspiracy of Us as a Christmas gift and it’s been sitting on my shelf for the longest time. I finally decided it was time to give it a try and I’m happy I did. It’s an enjoyable read!
The Conspiracy of Us follows Avery, a teenage girl who discovers she belongs to a secret society called The Circle. While learning about her new family, she becomes involved in a tangled mystery that takes her all across the globe!
Avery is a good main character and I enjoyed reading her story. But, I’m looking forward to getting some more character development in the sequel. Basically, I just want a little bit more from her character.
Jack and Stellan are really enjoyable characters. They certainly are witty and full of banter. There is a little bit of insta-love in this book. But in the end I think the relationships between Jack, Stellan and Avery grow at a natural and steady pace.
Another thing I truly loved about this book is the historical aspect. Maggie Hall links the mystery in this book to parts of history – Alexander the Great, Napoleon, the World Wars etc. Because I’m a history lover, this is definitely one of my favourite aspects of the book!
It’s also really interesting to see how these parts of history link to Avery’s travels. It’s fun to explore other countries and places while diving into a good read. I’m excited for the travels in the sequel!
Overall, The Conspiracy of Us is a fast paced book filled with adventure from start to finish. It’s filled with suspense, mystery and action. I definitely would recommend this book to anyone looking for some adventure and a good mystery!
I recently picked up the sequel Map of Fates, so I am definitely looking forward to diving in and seeing how it continues!
