The first rule of book club: You don’t talk about book club.
Nashville Legends second baseman Gavin Scott’s marriage is in major league trouble. He’s recently discovered a humiliating secret: his wife Thea has always faked the Big O. When he loses his cool at the revelation, it’s the final straw on their already strained relationship. Thea asks for a divorce, and Gavin realizes he’s let his pride and fear get the better of him.
Welcome to the Bromance Book Club.
Distraught and desperate, Gavin finds help from an unlikely source: a secret romance book club made up of Nashville’s top alpha men. With the help of their current read, a steamy Regency titled Courting the Countess, the guys coach Gavin on saving his marriage. But it’ll take a lot more than flowery words and grand gestures for this hapless Romeo to find his inner hero and win back the trust of his wife.
The Bromance Book Club Review
After hearing about the premise of this book, I immediately added it to my list of books to read. While it’s taken me some time to actually get to it, I’m so glad I did!
The Bromance Book Club follows Gavin, a professional baseball player who joins a book club after his wife decides to leave him. While meeting to read and discuss romance novels, Gavin uses what he learns to help repair his marriage.
I really enjoyed the characters in this book. Gavin is a good main character and I thoroughly enjoyed his relationship arc with Thea. Because he’s desperately trying to save his marriage, there are moments of suspense and tension. But their relationship really grows throughout the book and it’s enjoyable to see.
The bromance book club men are also great characters. I really enjoyed Mack – mostly because he’s a great leader for the group. The Russian is also a funny addition. And obviously, Thea’s daughters and her sister Liv are a great bonus to the storyline.
The overall plot of the book is humourous and engaging. I loved seeing these strong, manly athletes meeting to read romance novels together. It’s full of humour and witty sarcasm but also a lot of heartwarming moments.
The romance is also really great in this book. Gavin and Thea are truly made for each other and the book is full of moments to root for them. It’s romantic, suspenseful as well as a bit steamy at times!
Overall, The Bromance Book Club is a great romantic comedy. It’s a perfect read for a sunny afternoon because I read it in one sitting! I also plan on reading Undercover Bromance right after so I’m looking forward to continuing the series!
