While I only read the first book in this series this year, I’m so excited there’s another new release. It’s one of my goals to catch up on this series in the new year. Since each book is quite short, I’ll be able to catch up quickly and I can’t wait to read the newest addition to this wonderful series.

To Swoon and to Spar by Martha Waters
How adorable is this cover? Since I’ve been loving Bridgerton, I’m hoping to read more romantic comedies set in historical time periods. This addition to The Regency Vows series follows a viscount and his new wife. When his new wife wants to chase him away from their shared home, they learn that spending time together isn’t as bad as they thought.

When Maggie swears off men, a chance encounter with a member of the Royal Guard makes her realize she’s not ready to give up on love.

But she doesn’t expect it to mean taking a road trip with her ashes in her backpack.
Planes, Trains and All the Feels by Livy Hart
When Cassidy needs to get to her sister’s wedding on time, she’ll do anything. She doesn’t expect that to mean sharing a rental car with a really infuriating man. It sounds like it’s going to be such a fun and enjoyable romance — and totally reminds me of all the chaos of Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
Marrying Off Morgan McBride by Amy Barry
When I read Kit McBride Gets a Wife, I was totally surprised. I had never read a western romance before but I loved every minute of it. I can’t wait to jump into Morgan’s love story — he’s such a grump and I love him so much!

This year has been the year of Meghan Quinn for me! I’ve read so many of her books and I can’t wait to dive into her newest release. I don’t know much about The Way I Hate Him except that it sounds like it will be an enemies-to-lovers romance and I can’t wait to read it.
The Blonde Identity by Ally Carter
The Blonde Identity seems like it will have similar vibes to To Have and to Heist — the perfect mix of romance and adventure. September 2023 Books to Read
Along Came Holly by Codi Hall
This book comes out in September but it doesn’t mean I won’t be interested in reading all the holiday romance books a little bit early! Along Came Holly follows Holly, who doesn’t want her grumpy neighbour Declan to steal her holiday joy. When she realizes that she needs Declan’s help, they start spending more time together, despite his reluctance towards the holidays. It seems like it’ll be the perfect holiday rom-com with an enemies-to-lovers trope!
Faking Christmas by Kerry Winfrey
I absolutely love Kerry Winfrey’s books and I’m so excited to read her first holiday romance! Faking Christmas follows Laurel, who misleads her boss into thinking she owns her twin sister’s farm. When he suddenly shows up for the holiday dinner, Laurel is forced to pretend she’s married. The only problem is, the man pretending to be her husband, is her nemesis. The Ex-Mas Holidays by Zoe Allison
The Ex-Mas Holidays sounds like the perfect holiday read. It follows Maya, who is dreading her visit home for Christmas because she’s just lost her job and her long term relationship has ended. When she arrives at her friend’s holiday party, she doesn’t expect to see the man who broke her heart. As they spend more time together, they realize that their breakup might not be what it seemed. It’s also set in the Scottish Highlands, which makes me even more excited to read it.

It sounds like it’s going to be a great read and definitely makes me want to read Icebreaker before this one releases!

If it’s anything like her other books, I know this one will be a hit!
A Holly Jolly Ever After by Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone
While I didn’t love the first book in this series, I am excited to read the next book in the A Christmas Notch series. This one follows Kallum, a former member of a popular boy band — and the same one Nolan from book one belonged to. When a sex tape is leaked, Kallum decides to work on a movie for the Hope channel in order to help rebuild his reputation. While filming, he meets Winnie and discovers that his happily ever after may be around the corner.
Sword Catcher by Cassandra Clare
When I heard that Cassandra Clare was releasing her first adult fantasy, I immediately added it to my list of books to read. I’ve been reading Cassandra Clare’s books since she first released the Mortal Instruments series and I can’t wait to see what she does with her first adult series. I purposely haven’t read any information about the synopsis because I want to go in with no expectations!
The Burnout by Sophie Kinsella
Sophie Kinsella is one of the first authors to introduce me to contemporary. It’s safe to say that when she releases a new book, it’s going on my TBR. It follows Sasha, who’s feeling burnt out. In an effort to feel better, she heads to a seaside resort she enjoyed as a child. While there, she meets Finn, a grumpy man who may be just as burnt out as she is.
The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young
I absolutely love Adrienne Young and it’s at the point where I will buy anything she writes. She has such a way with her words and her stories are really well crafted. The Unmaking of June Farrow is her next adult book and I’m hoping I love it as much as Spells for Forgetting. It follows June Farrow, who wants to solve her mother’s disappearance and end a centuries-old curse on her family.
Hercule Poirot’s Silent Night by Sophie Hannah
While I’m not the biggest thriller reader, I do enjoy a good whodunnit mystery every once and a while. I’m a fan of Agatha Christie’s books, especially since she’s able to trick me every time! I’m very intrigued by this newest addition to the Agatha Christie world. While I know it won’t be the same as one of her own novels, I’m hopeful that it will still be an enjoyable mystery with a beloved Agatha Christie character. If I enjoy it, I think I’ll go back to the other books in the series that Sophie Hannah has written.

When she wakes up at the age of 40 with two kids and a husband, she has to embrace her life or decide if she wants to go back. It sounds so interesting and unlike anything I’ve read before!
The Rom Con by Devon Daniels
The Rom Con kind of gives me How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days vibes, which makes me super excited since it’s one of my favourite movies. It follows Cassidy, who gets a 1950s dating advice book from her grandmother after a brutal breakup. When she turns the article into a “what not to do” article for the women’s publication she writes for, she needs someone to test the old fashioned tips on. The best person turns out to be Jack, the creator of the rival men’s publication. This one sounds like it’ll be so much fun!
Veronica Ruiz Breaks the Bank by Elle Cosimano
I read the first three books in the Finlay Donovan series this year and I’m excited to read more about Vero! Vero still remains a bit of a mystery in the series, so I’m excited to see what information we get in this new release!
Do Your Worst by Rosie Danan
I really enjoyed The Roommate and The Intimacy Experiment when I read them, so I’m excited to get another book by Rosie Danan. Do Your Worst follows Riley, who wants to turn her family’s supernatural gift into a business when she’s hired to break a curse at a Scottish castle. It’s going to be the perfect mix of humour and romance. It’s also a bonus that it’s set in the Scottish Highlands!
Never Met a Duke Like You by Amalie Howard
I still haven’t read Always Be My Duchess yet so I actually don’t know much about Never Met a Duke Like You. But, I’ve been in such a romance mood these days and I would like to add some more historical romance to my TBR. I also just really love this cover! Here’s hoping I can get to Always Be My Duchess soon, so I’m ready to read this when it releases.

Raiders of the Lost Heart by Jo Segura
I’m such a huge fan of the Indiana Jones movies so it really makes sense that this book is on my TBR. Raiders of the Lost Heart follows two rival archaeologists who work together on a secret Aztec dig. This book sold me on it’s comparison to Indian Jones and the fact that it’s a romance!
Technically Yours by Denise Williams
I absolutely adore Denise Williams and she’s earned a spot in my auto-buy romance author list. I’m really looking forward to reading her upcoming release, Technically Yours. It follows Pearl, who gets a new job and learns that the newest member of the board is the man she fell in love with seven years ago. It sounds like it’s going to be the perfect second chance romance.
The Fake Mate by Lana Ferguson
After reading Lana Ferguson’s debut in the spring, I immediately added her next book to my TBR. I’m excited for The Fake Mate even though it seems quite different from her debut. It follows two wolf shifters who decide to be fake mates. While I don’t read a lot of paranormal romance books, I think this one is really interesting and I’m excited to see how it goes!
The Gentleman’s Gambit by Evie Dunmore
Since I’m hoping to add some more historical romance books to my list, I’m hoping The Gentleman’s Gambit will be one I enjoy. I still have to catch up on the series so I don’t know much about the premise of this book. But, I’m still excited to pick it up! I also just really love this cover!
On the Plus Side by Jenny L Howe
On the Plus Side sounds like it will be such a fun book! It follows Everly, who is secretly nominated for the next season of a makeover show. While it’s an overwhelming experience, she finds friendship in the grumpy cameraman, Logan. It sounds like such a sweet read and I can’t wait to pick it up!

I’ve read the first 1 1/2 books in Seanan McGuire’s Wayward Children series, and I’ve really loved them, especially all the references to other books. If you’re interested in more historical romance, do check out Mimi Matthews’ books. They’re lovely.

That’s great! I’m definitely hoping to continue this year. I read my first two Mimi Matthew books in 2022 and loved them both — The Siren of Sussex and The Belle of Belgrave Square! I definitely need to check out more of her books!
