We’re almost a full month into the year, which makes it the perfect time to share ten books I hope to read in 2024.
For a few years now, I’ve been sharing a list of books I hope to read for the year. The first year, I only managed to complete three books from the list. The second year, I managed to complete three books from the list. Last year, I managed to read four books from the list.
It’s clear I’m not that great at following a specific TBR for the year. I definitely consider myself a mood reader! But, that doesn’t stop me from making these lists every year.
On this list, you’ll find ten books I hope to read in 2024. With a mixture of backlist titles and brand new releases from 2023, I’m hoping to make these books a priority this year.
Will I be able to mark them all off this year? Time will tell!

Top Ten Books I Hope to Read in 2024
Beach Read by Emily Henry. I’ve read all of Emily Henry’s adult romance books — except for Beach Read. It’s been on my list for a while now to pick up her first adult romance. Even though I’ve had it on my TBR for a long time, I’m determined to read it this year so that I can finally be caught up! I also hope to read it before the release of Funny Story!
Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo at the end of 2022 and absolutely loved it. It was such a great book — I think it’s on my list as one of my all-time favourite books. I haven’t read any other books by Taylor Jenkins Reid yet, but Carrie Soto is Back is one I’m interested in! A friend gave me a copy for Christmas, so at least I have it in my posession now!
Chain of Thorns by Cassandra Clare. I absolutely love Cassandra Clare and I can’t believe I didn’t get to Chain of Thorns last year. While I’m sad that this trilogy is ending, I’m still so excited to see what happens. My hope is to re-read Chain of Gold and Chain of Iron before jumping in.
Every Summer After by Carley Fortune. I have heard so many amazing things about Carley Fortune’s books. The synopsis of her books always hooks me but I haven’t had a chance to sit down and read them yet. I’m determined to read Every Summer After this year. I need to know what the hype is all about! Hopefully, I’ll be able to read Meet Me at the Lake as well, before This Summer Will Be Different releases.
Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn. This is the only book on the list that I’ve carried over from last year. I’ve been reading the Bridgerton books before the release of the next season. Since the third season didn’t release last year, I decided to push this one forward so that I could read it closer to the release. I’m so excited to read Penelope and Colin’s story. I also can’t wait to see how it plays out on screen!
Sword Catcher by Cassandra Clare. Another Cassandra Clare book on this list! I am so excited to read her adult debut fantasy — I expect it’ll be a wild ride! Since I love her young adult books so much, I really have high expectations for this one. I just need to find the time to be able to devour a big fantasy while also being in the mood for it.
The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren. I really love Christina Lauren’s books but I’m a bit behind. I want to try and catch up, and The Soulmate Equation is the first one I want to pick up. I’m excited to pick this one up and then continue on with their more recent releases. I definitely want to catch up before the release of The Paradise Problem but we’ll see!
The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young. I just adore everything that Adrienne Young writes! It’s surprising I didn’t find the time to read this book last year but I’m excited to get to it soon. I just love the characters she creates, the atmosphere, and the overall story she tells. I know I’m going to love this one!
Throne of the Fallen by Kerri Maniscalco. I really loved reading the Kingdom of the Wicked series, which is why I was so excited to pick up this spin-off series. Even though I pre-ordered this book, I just wasn’t in the mood for a big fantasy. I’ve heard incredible things though, so I’ll be making it a priority to pick this one up soon.
Wreck the Halls by Tessa Bailey. I had so many plans for some great holiday reading — but it didn’t work out for me. Tessa Bailey’s books are always so enjoyable and I’m really excited to pick this one up later this year. I enjoyed her holiday novella Window Shopping so I have similar expecations for this full length novel!

Chain of Thorns has been collecting dust on my shelf. // I also haven’t read any of Emily Henry’s books yet but Beach Read has been on my list for a while now too. Do you have any recs on where to start?

Aww, we’re in a similar boat! Hopefully we enjoy it when we do get a chance to read it! I’ve really enjoyed Emily Henry’s books. I would say People We Meet on Vacation was my favourite, followed by Book Lovers and Happy Place. Which is funny because that’s the order she published them in. But in all honesty, I enjoyed them all so you really can’t go wrong!
