We’re only a week into the new year, but it’s the perfect time to share the ten books I hope to read in 2022.
Last year, I shared a post on ten books I hoped to read. It was a mixture of books on my TBR for a long time, some hyped books I needed to get to and some books by authors I love. And quite honestly, I didn’t do so well. Oops!
From that post, I only read three books — The Lightning Thief, Josh & Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating, and Thunderhead. While I wasn’t overly successful, I’m hoping to do better this year.
So today, I’m sharing another list of ten books I hope to read in 2022 — and only one book is on there from last year. I realized that as a mood reader, I need to put books on this list that are realistic for me to get to throughout the year. And I’m hoping, I’ll be more successful this year, because of that.
Be sure to share with me in the comments some of the books you hope to prioritize this year!

10 Books to Read in 2022
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson: This is one of those books that is on my radar because of the hype. I love a good young adult mystery novel, and I’m really hoping this will become a new favourite. I’ve heard really great things about this series, so I hope it’ll come through for me!
Bringing Down the Duke by Evie Dunmore: We just had the third book of this series release, and I own all of them. So I think it’s time I sit down and catch up! I’ve become such a romance reader in the last couple of years, so I’m really excited to try this one out. I’m hoping it’ll be as fun as the synopsis and book covers suggest!
Chain of Iron by Cassandra Clare: A book I meant to read in 2021 and just didn’t get to. I’m such a big fan of Cassandra Clare and I can’t wait for this newest addition to the Shadowhunter world. I’m kind of hoping to read Chain of Gold again beforehand so that everything is fresh. But we’ll see if that actually happens!
Front Desk by Kelly Yang: This middle grade has been on my list of books to read for so long. I finally own a copy so this is the year to make it happen. I just know I’m going to love it and I’m so excited to finally read one of Kelly Yang’s books!
Love & Olives by Jenna Evans Welch: I am such a fan of the Love & Gelato series. It’s so fun, although I did love the first book more than Love & Luck. I’m so excited to read this one because it’s set in Greece, and I’m just hoping I love it as much as the first book!
Moment of Truth by Kasie West: I’ve read all of Kasie West’s books, including her release in 2021. But somehow, I haven’t gotten to this one yet. One of my hopes is to re-read all of her books this year — likelihood of it happening, I’m not sure. But this one is definitely high on the priority list!
Realm Breaker by Victoria Aveyard: I’m excited to dive into a new world created by Victoria Aveyard. While the Red Queen series started off so strong for me, it didn’t end as strong. I’m hoping this series is more steady for me. But one thing is for certain, I love the worlds she creates and how vividly everything is described. So here’s hoping it’s a successful read for me!
The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan: I finally read the first book in the Percy Jackson series last year. While I hoped to read the sequel, I just didn’t get around to it. So I’m hoping I get to it this year. Especially with the TV show in development, now’s the time!
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid: This is the only book from the list last year that I’ve carried over. I really need to read this one and it’s time I make it a priority!
When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon: This is another time where I own all the books in this series and still haven’t read them. So 2022 is going to be the year of Sandhya Menon! I’m excited to read these contemporary books, I’m positive I’m going to like them!
