After narrowly escaping death at the hands of the Dames Blanches, Lou, Reid, Coco, and Ansel are on the run from coven, kingdom, and church — fugitives with nowhere to hide.
To elude the scores of witches and throngs of chasseurs at their heels, Lou and Reid need allies. Strong ones. But protection comes at a price, and the group is forced to embark on separate quests to build their forces. As Lou and Reid try to close the widening rift between them, the dastardly Morgane baits them in a lethal game of cat and mouse that threatens to destroy something worth more than any coven.
The hotly anticipated sequel to the New York Times and IndieBound bestseller Serpent & Dove — packed with even steamier romance and darker magic — is perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas.
Blood & Honey Review
As soon as I finished reading Serpent & Dove last year, I have been (not-so) patiently waiting for its sequel.
Blood and Honey picks up right after the events of Serpent and Dove. The series follows Lou, a witch hiding from both her coven and the town’s witch hunters — The Chasseurs. It also follows Reid, a witch hunter who is forced to marry Lou.
One of my favourite aspects of this series are the characters. I already love Lou and Reid (and Ansel and Coco), but it just grew so much with this book. I love Lou’s sassy, sarcastic and bold personality and the way it clashes with Reid’s loyal and protective side.
While I love these characters, I didn’t love the tension, arguments and fighting that took place. We see so many moments where the characters are at odds with each other. And while some of them were necessary, I wanted more swoon-worthy moments and all the witty banter.
The overall plot of Blood and Honey is enjoyable! It’s a slower pace than the first book, which is somewhat disappointing. But, the character dialogue makes up for the slow parts. I will forever love Ansel and Coco. They’re just such amazing side characters.
I still absolutely love the magic and the witch-y elements. They really add to the overall vibe of the book.
Overall, Blood and Honey is a solid sequel. The characters are still fantastic, there’s great dialogue (here’s looking at you Big Titty Liddy) and a decent plot.
The ending …. let’s just say I AM NOT OKAY and do not want to wait another year for the next book. But, it certainly has me ready for the third and final book!

About the Author
Shelby Mahurin grew up on a small farm in rural Indiana, where sticks became wands and cows became dragons. Her rampant imagination didn’t fade with age so she continues to play make-believe every day — with words now instead of cows. When not writing, Shelby watches the Office and obsesses over her Twitter feed. She still lives near that childhood farm with her very tall husband, semi-feral toddlers, two dogs, and one cat.
