Just like that, August has slipped away — which makes it the perfect time to share my August reading wrap up.
I’ve been soaking up the last days of summer before I’m back to work in September. While it’s exciting to go back to the classroom, it also feels like the summer went by so fast. I’m not quite ready for it to come to an end!
I enjoyed the time away from my blog this summer, even though I felt a bit guilty at times. But, it was good for me to take a step back and enjoy my summer. I am excited to get back into the swing of things this fall, though!
In August, I read a total of eight books — six 2023 releases and two backlist titles. I made it to my 49th book of the year and my Goodreads goal is 50, so I’m excited to reach that goal with my next read.

August 2023 Reading Wrap Up
Someone Just Like You by Meredith Schorr. I really enjoyed Meredith Schorr’s debut so I was excited to jump into her newest release. Someone Just Like You is a sweet enemies-to-lovers with a hint of childhood friends-to-lovers. It was a fun read and I really enjoyed her writing. I think her first book is still my favourite, but it was a solid read nonetheless!
Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez. Part of Your World is definitely my favourite book by Abby Jimenez! I’m so glad I finally got an opportunity to read this one. It was such a great story and I adored the characters so much. The writing and the overall romance was top notch! I definitely see myself re-reading this in the future!
Raiders of the Lost Heart by Jo Segura. I wanted to check off another prompt for the Pop Sugar Reading Challenge, so I picked up my advance copy of Raiders of the Lost Heart. I really enjoyed this one! As a big fan of the Indiana Jones franchise, I loved the archaeology plot in this book. The romance was enjoyable and the writing was great, so I’m glad I picked it up!
How to Fake it in Hollywood by Ava Wilder. How to Fake it in Hollywood has been on my list for a while now. I picked it up to fufill another prompt for the Pop Sugar Reading Challenge and I’m glad I finally read it. It was an enjoyable romance that also dealt with a lot of difficult topics like grief and alcoholism. I definitely am looking forward to picking up her 2023 release at some point.
Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez. After reading Part of Your World, I had to continue with the duology. Yours Truly is such a sweet and endearing book. I loved Briana and Jacob so much. Jacob is such a great character and I really loved the way Abby Jimenez showcased his struggles with anxiety.
The Love Plot by Samantha Young. Before the end of the month, I wanted to pick up my advance copy of The Love Plot. I’ve only read one other book by Samantha Young before, but I really enjoyed it. The Love Plot was a solid book — I enjoyed the quirky personality of Star mixed with the grumpy personality of Rafe.
The Way I Hate Him by Meghan Quinn. This year has been the year of Meghan Quinn for me! When The Way I Hate Him released, I picked it up with Kindle Unlimited. While I enjoyed this book, it’s not at the top of my list of Meghan Quinn books. It’s still a fun and enjoyable book though!
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. Fourth Wing is by far my favourite book of the month. I stayed away from this book for a while because of all the hype. One of my best friend’s read it and told me I definitely needed to try it and she was right! I absolutely loved this book. While some criticisms are totally valid and I can agree that it’s not the best fantasy plot I’ve ever read, I just really enjoyed every minute of it. I can’t wait to pick up Iron Flame when it releases!

Congrats on a great reading month–and for crossing off those Popsugar prompts. It always feels good to do that. 🙂 I took my first ever blogging hiatus for a few weeks in July this summer, and now I see the appeal. It really is necessary! Good luck with the new school year.

Thank you! I think this *might* be the year I can finally complete all the prompts! But we’ll see if I can actually manage it or not. It really was a needed break and although I felt bad for taking it, I think it was the right decision. Thanks for the well wishes, Dedra! 🥰
