Happy Friday, everyone!
I have another great post today for my Fall for Anne feature! Today, I’m reviewing the sequel to Anne Arrives – Anne’s Kindred Spirits. It’s such a cute sequel, and I hope you all have the chance to pick it up soon!
I have some more fun posts in this feature coming soon, so be sure to stay on the lookout!
TITLE: Anne’s Kindred Spirits
AUTHOR: Kallie George
ILLUSTRATOR: Abigail Halpin
PUBLISHER: Tundra Books
TARGET AUDIENCE: Middle Grade
The sweet and funny second book in a new early-reader series, starring the spirited and outspoken Anne Shirley as she makes friends and settles into life at Green Gables — with a few hijinks along the way, of course!
Anne is nervous and excited to meet Diana, a neighbor girl who she just knows will be a kindred spirit. She’s even more excited when she learns that she’s invited to her very first picnic! Until Marilla’s precious brooch goes missing and it looks like it’s Anne’s fault. That is, Marilla is upset and Anne’s picnic adventure is now in jeopardy. Ultimately, the misunderstanding with the brooch is resolved and Anne is able to go to the picnic. Anne and Diana’s friendship blossoms and Anne’s bond with Matthew and Marilla grows stronger.
Lovingly adapted by Kallie George with beautiful nostalgic illustrations by Abigail Halpin, this series is perfect for fans of Anne, new and old.
This is seriously the sweetest sequel to Anne Arrives.
Anne’s Kindred Spirits follows Anne after she arrives at Green Gables. This short chapter book follows Anne as she meets her new friend, Diana. It also shows Anne desperately trying to go to the town picnic and eat ice cream for the first time!
In these nine chapters, Kallie George quickly continues the classic Anne of Green Gables story. She captures the essence of the book and makes it easy to read and understand for younger readers. It’s really well written and totally engaging. It’s just all around adorable!
The illustrations in this book are just as beautiful as the first – if not more so. I love the introduction of Diana and her family. The illustrations make the story leap off the page.
I love this sequel and highly recommend continuing with this series for young readers. It really captures the original classic story in an adapted way.
