Happy Friday, everyone!! It’s the start of a long weekend here in Canada and I am super excited to curl up and read!
It has been a HOT minute since I’ve done a book tag. But, I was in the mood to do one – so here we are! I’ve also been on such a roll this week with posts, so this is an easy filler to continue the streak!
I’ve seen this tag around BookTube for quite a while and I finally decided to try in out on the blog. I didn’t time myself completing the challenge, but I figured it would be fun to see if I had books to match all these prompts!
1. Do you have a book with deckled edges?
I don’t have many books with deckled edges. Honestly, I’m not the biggest fan of them. But after searching on my shelves, I came across Dread Nation by Justina Ireland. I still haven’t read it but hopefully this summer!
2. Do you have a book with 3 or more people on the cover?
I have so many books with characters on the cover! I actually love when books have characters because it helps me to visualize them throughout reading! The book I chose for this one is A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir (which happens to be one of my favourite series)!
3. Do you have a book based on another fictional story?
4. Do you have a book with a title 10 letters long?
This prompt is SO HARD! So many of the books I own have 9 letters and it’s so annoying, ha! In all the videos I watched, people choose Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. But I have never read the series and I don’t even own it. For this one, I chose Surprise Me by Sophie Kinsella!
5. Do you have a book with a title that starts and ends with the same letter?
This one is another toughy! Out of all the books I have on my shelf (which is A LOT!) I could only find two books that start and end with the same letter. I finally chose Love and Luck by Jenna Evans Welch.
6. Do you have a Mass Market Paperback book?
I HATE mass market paperbacks. The tiny print, the awkward size. It’s just awful. I only have three (and honestly I wish I had none). I’m a huge fan of Lucille Ball – she’s my favourite actress and I absolutely adore the show I Love Lucy. For this one I chose her autobiography, which I’ve read several times.
7. Do you have a book written by an author using a pen name?
My first instinct for this prompt was to chose Cassandra Clare because it’s not really her first name. But I also tried not to use the same people for different prompts. So for this one I went with Lemony Snicket, the author of A Series of Unfortunate Events. It’s definitely a series that got me into reading!
8. Do you have a book with a character’s name in the title?
I have lots of books with the characters in the title but I wanted to challenge myself a bit more. I looked to see if I had one with multiple characters in the title. Surprise, I do! For this one I chose Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson. It also happens to be a signed copy!
9. Do you have a book with 2 maps in it?
I love looking at maps in fantasy books. It really helps me get a feel for the world and understand where people move throughout the book. For this one, I chose one of the newest additions to my shelf – Broken Throne by Victoria Aveyard. I met her last weekend and got it signed!
10. Do you have a book that was turned into a TV show?
Book to TV adaptations are somewhat tricky for me! While I get excited about the idea, I’m usually left disappointed by the product. For this one I chose City of Bones by Cassandra Clare – for the Shadowhunters TV Show. I loved this series but both the movie and TV adaptations have been somewhat disappointing!
11. Do you have a book written by someone who is originally famous for something else?
I’m someone who does enjoy reading celebrity memoirs and autobiographies. For people I really like, it’s enjoyable to get a glimpse into their life. For this one I chose Talking as Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham – I LOOOOOOOVE Gilmore Girls!
12. Do you have a book with a clock on the cover?
This one was TOUGH! I did not think it would be hard to find a book with a clock somewhere on the cover. I don’t know if this one is kind of cheating, but I chose Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. It has Big Ben on the cover, and it has a clock. SO I’m going with it, ha!
13. Do you have a poetry book?
This is the ONLY one I don’t have a book for! Poetry just isn’t my thing and so I don’t own any inside the genre. If you have a recommendation for me though, please let me know in the comments!
14. Do you have a book with an award stamp on it?
I do!! I love when books win awards. Not just because it means that they are amazing books, but because they seem somewhat special to me! For this one I chose Scythe by Neal Shusterman! I still need to get to the sequel.
15. Do you have a book written by an author with the same initials as you?
This prompt is the only one I immediately had an answer for! An it’s even better because all three initials are for my name as well! For this, I chose Vicious by V.E. Schwab. Her first and second name happen to be mine as well – Victoria Elizabeth. My last name also starts with an S!
16. Do you have a book of short stories?
My first answer for this one was Broken Throne by Victoria Aveyard. But it is the only one of my books that I could find two maps in. After some looking at my shelves I chose The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas. I still haven’t read the short stories and I haven’t finished the Throne of Glass series yet, but I’ll get there!
17. Do you have a book that is between 500-510 pages long?
Wow, was this prompt ever hard. I can’t even begin to tell you how many books I picked up to find them just short or just over the page limit! But, I finally got to The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee! The story is 507 pages!
18. Do you have a book that was turned into a movie?
I typically enjoy the book more than I enjoy movie adaptations, which I think is the way most people feel. But for this one I actually chose a book that I preferred the movie for! Maybe I’m unique in thinking this though – who knows! I chose Simon vs. the Homosapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli!
19. Do you have a graphic novel?
I actually don’t read very many graphic novels. I think the idea of them is really cool and sometimes I wish I picked more up, but it’s just not my first choice. Some of the graphic novels I have are middle grade reads – so for this one, I’ve chosen Edison Beaker Creature Seeker: The Night Door by Frank Cammuso.
20. Do you have a book written by 2 or more authors?
When I was younger, I feel like I didn’t see many books written by two authors. Now, I see so many amazing titles written by two or more authors (i.e. Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff)! For this one I chose Always Never Yours by Emily Wibberly and Austin Siegemund-Broka. I think it’s super adorable that they’re engaged and write together!
Ah, it feels so nice to do another tag! The Do I Have That Book tag is super fun and is challenging at times! I’m really excited that I had a book to fit all but one prompt.
Let me know in the comments if there are some other fun tags I should check out and do for the blog! This was so fun ☺️
🌿 Anyone who wants to join in! Be sure to tag me back so I can see your choices!
Enjoy the weekend my lovely friends! 🌸
