Another Top Ten Tuesday – woot woot! I’m actually really excited for this week’s prompt. I really enjoy Halloween. Even though I’m not the biggest fan of dressing up, I love handing out candy (and eating my fair share of candy), carving pumpkins and watching nostalgic Halloween movies! Any other Halloweentown fans out there? It’s definitely one of my favourite Halloween movies from my childhood!
This week’s theme is a Halloween/creepy freebie! This year, I read some thrillers and mystery books that I really enjoyed. In the future, I’d really like to read more. So I’ve decided to use today to compile a top ten list of thrillers (and some mystery) books that I would like to read, and hopefully soon!
The first eight on this list are young adult thrillers/mystery books. The final two are adult thrillers. As always, the title links to the synopsis!
Lies You Never Told Me by Jennifer Donaldson // This book just seems intriguing to me, but I’m also not sure if it’ll be one I enjoy? It’s one of those books where it’s intriguing enough to try out but we’ll see if the plot grabs me!
Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl // I love watching Kayla, from BooksandLala on Youtube, and she really enjoyed this book! She’s also a great source for thriller recommendations because she loves them. Definitely curious about this one after hearing about her 5 star review!
One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus // This book is pitched as The Breakfast Clubs meets Pretty Little Liars, which is enough to make me want to read it. Plus, it seems to have pretty decent reviews from people in the book blogging community – so we’ll see what happens!
People Like Us by Dana Mele // This one is definitely intriguing to me. It’s set in a private school and surrounds a murder investigation. I’m curious to see if this book is as interesting as the plot seems.
Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand // I’ve heard some fantastic things about this book – enough to make me want to read it. Also, since I enjoyed Furyborn, I think I should enjoy this one too!
The Cheerleaders by Kara Thomas // This is another book that came to my attention through Kayla, from BooksandLala. She didn’t enjoy this one as much as Neverworld Wake, but I’m still curious about it!
There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins // I’m very curious about this one! I really enjoyed Anna and the French Kiss but obviously, contemporary and thriller are two very different genres. So, I’m curious to see how Perkins writes a thriller!
Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson // The synopsis of this book is super, super interesting to me! I really like the whole aspect of the boarding school setting and it seems like a very intriguing mystery!
The 7 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton // I’ve been hearing about this book quite a bit! And for some reason, it’s either the 7 deaths or the 7 1/2 deaths? That’s confusing, ha! I really think this book sounds interesting and we’ll see if I like it as much as I think I will!
The Winters by Lisa Gabriele // Penguin Random House Canada recently sent me a finished copy of this book so I’m definitely going to read it at some point. It’s a very unique plot that I haven’t seen before and I’m curious to see how it all plays out. I also like the idea of the book being sent in the Hamptons!
Well – those are my top ten thriller/mystery books I’d like to read! And hopefully, sometime soon! BRB while I add these to my ever-growing list of books to read .. but you can never have too much, right?
Let’s Chat in the Comments!
