Today I have a fun post – the What’s on my Bookshelf Tag! While blog hopping, I saw this tag on Aimee blog, Aimee Always, and knew I had to try it out! While I have not been tagged by anyone, Aimee said that she tagged anyone who wanted to do it. Obviously, I had to try it out myself.

I think the great part about this tag is it gives you guys more insight into my reading tastes and what kinds of books are on my bookshelf! It also helps you to get to know me more, which is always great!

The original tag was created by Naty, who blogs at Naty’s Bookshelf. The rules are pretty simple:

+ Link back to Naty, so she can see the answers!
+ Link back to the person who tagged you
+ Name one book for each category
+ Try not to repeat books to make it more fun!
+ Tag at least 5 people

A Library Book

A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir - The Contented Reader

A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir // I don’t frequent the Library very often, but I do happen to have some books out right now! I placed a hold on this book and it finally came in. I’m currently about 100 pages in and loving it. I just absolutely adore this series!

A Book You Got As A Gift

Love, Lucy by Lucille Ball - The Contented Reader

Love, Lucy by Lucille Ball // Lucille Ball is my all-time favourite actress. She was an incredible comedic talent and is such an icon to me. I started talking about her and her shows around the age of four and haven’t stopped since. My mom bought me a copy of her autobiography a number of years ago. I’ve read it multiple times and truly cherish this book. It means a lot to me.

A Childhood Book

The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket - The Contented Reader

The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket // There are a number of books and series that I attribute to my start in reading. But through the years a lot of those books have been misplaced or donated. One that has always stayed is the Series of Unfortunate Events. I absolutely loved this series as a kid and don’t think I will be giving up these books anytime soon!

A Romantic Book

Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch - The Contented Reader

Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch // I really enjoyed this book when I read it. The setting of Italy was super romantic and the romance between Ren and Lina was really cute. I just adore this book in general!

A Steamy Book

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang - The Contented Reader

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang // Michael Phan and Stella Lane. Need I say more? Honestly though, this is one of the steamiest books I have ever read and I highly, highly recommend it!

An Old Book

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen - The Contented Reader

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen // I have had this book on my shelf for a very long time. But, since it’s a classic, it’s also old in the sense of how long it has been in publication. Jane Austen is my favourite classic author and I adore Pride and Prejudice. I also love the BBC adaptation where Colin Firth is Mr. Darcy. Anybody agree?

A Book That Makes You Happy/Laugh

Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone by JK Rowling - The Contented Reader

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by JK Rowling // Harry Potter will always hold a piece of my heart. I am a huge fan and this series in general always makes me happy. Between my collection of books, illustrated editions, funko pops and wands from the Wizarding World, I will forever have a smile on my face when it comes to Harry Potter.

A Book That Makes You Emotional

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson - The Contented Reader

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson // This book definitely gives you all the feels. With a strong foundation of family and an emotional summer, this book always makes me emotional.

A Book With An Ending You Disliked

Allegiant by Veronica Roth - The Contented Reader

Allegiant by Veronica Roth // Oh Allegiant. How disappointing. I really enjoyed Divergent and enjoyed Insurgent. But Allegiant was just so disappointing in so many ways but especially with its ending.

A Book You Wish Had Illustrations

Warcross by Marie Lu Book Cover - The Contented Reader

Warcross by Marie Lu // Warcross has such an epic setting. Lu’s writing is incredibly descriptive and the virtual worlds is something I would love to actually see illustrated. I can only imagine how amazing they would look in full colour.

A Book You Love to Read on a Rainy Day

Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen - The Contented Reader

Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen // Quite honestly, I will read any Sarah Dessen book on a rainy day. But Along for the Ride has always been one of my favourites. I really enjoyed the storyline and characters in this book, and continue to each time I re-read it!
