One of the best aspects of summer to me is being able to read a good book outside. I’m extremely lucky in the sense that I have both a pool in my backyard as well as a cottage that has lake access. But, being in Canada, it means that I sometimes only get limited opportunities to not only enjoy these amenities but also take the time to read by them (which, does happen to be one of my favourite things to do!)
For those of you who are not familiar, Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl where she assigns a new topic each week and posts a top ten list to follow that theme. We’re free to put our own spin on it, but that’s the general idea.
I absolutely love reading on the dock at my cottage. It’s peaceful, serene and absolutely beautiful. So, for today’s Top Ten Tuesday, I’m inspired by my favourite outdoor place to read – by the lake! All of the ten books listed today are books I can see myself sitting by the water reading!
The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen
Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
Talking as Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham
Stay Sweet by Siobhan Vivian
Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
Forget You by Jennifer Echols
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee
I See London, I See France by Sarah Mlynowski
As you can probably tell, my go-to reads by the lake are typically contemporary novels! I love the ease and simplicity that comes along with reading them – it’s almost as though you can escape into a quick and easy world and still enjoy the world that’s around you.
And, I just have to say – any book by Sarah Dessen or Morgan Matson are my absoute go-to beach/pool/outdoor reads. I had to reign myself in to make sure this list didn’t become solely about them, ha!
What is your favourite outdoor book? What is your favourite place to read outside?
Happy Tuesday, everyone!
