A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas - The Contented Reader

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin – one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it … or doom Tamlin – and his world – forever.

Review

Wow wow wow. I am officially a Sarah J. Maas convert. Since this is now the second book of hers that I have read, I can officially say that I adore her writing and her perfect storylines.

I have heard so much hype surrounding this series. My cousin read the series recently and told me it was something I definitely had to read. Once she finished, she lent me the books and I have to say, I’m so glad she did.

The first book hooked me. I can’t wait to continue reading this series. I loved each one of the characters in this book. Feyre is such a strong and wild main character, flaws and all. I really enjoyed reading how her character arc evolved throughout this story. So much so that I can’t wait to see where it picks up in the next book and how it continues. Lucien, Tamlin and Rhysand were all favourites as well – although my fondness for Tamlin significantly dwindled throughout the book. I was intrigued by Tamlin in the beginning but he just got kind of boring for me. That being said, I just enjoyed how unique each of them were and how their individual relationships with Feyre were each so different and engaging.

I’m so excited to see where the next book picks up and how it continues! I’m going to jump into reading it right now!

Be glad of your human heart, Feyre. Pity those who don't feel anything at all.

About The Author

Sarah J. Maas Author Photo - The Contented ReaderSarah J. Maas is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Throne of Glass series as well as the A Court of Thorns and Roses series.

Sarah lives in Bucks County, PA, and over the years, she has developed an unhealthy appreciation for Disney movies and bad pop music. She adores fairy tales and ballet, drinks too much tea, and watches an ungodly amount of TV. When she’s not busy writing, she can be found exploring the historic and beautiful Pennsylvania countryside with her husband and canine companion.
