Welcome, welcome to Finale, the third and final book in the #1 New York Times bestselling Caraval series!
Welcome, welcome to Caraval … all games must come to an end.
It’s been two months since the last Caraval concluded, two months since the Fates have been freed from an enchanted deck of cards, two months since Tella has seen Legend, and two months since Legend claimed the empire’s throne as his own. Now, Legend is preparing for his official coronation and Tella is determined to stop it. She believes her own mother, who still remains in an enchanted sleep, is the rightful heir to the throne.
Meanwhile, Scarlett has started a game of her own. She’s challenged Julian and her former fiancé, Count Nicolas d’Arcy, to a competition where the winner will receive her hand in marriage. Finaly, Scarlett feels as if she is in complete control over her life and future. She is unaware that her mother’s past has put her in the greatest danger of all.
Caraval is over, but perhaps the greatest game of all has begun — with lives, empires, and hearts all at stake. There are no spectators this time: only those who will win … and those who will lose everything …
Finale Review
All games must come to an end!
After reading Caraval, I was in love with the world and the wonderful characters. Legendary brings a brand new story as well as a new game. While Finale brings everything together, it’s not my favourite in this series.
I absolutely love all these characters, so much! Tella is my favourite of the sisters because she’s incredibly bold and feisty! Tella and Scarlett push and pull on each other but I’m happy with the way their story ends.
Also, the love triangle in this book? Wow! I’m not typically a fan of love triangles. But this one really had me turning the pages, and not with annoyance.
One of the reases I loved Caraval is because of the game aspect. The game sweeps you away from the beginning with constant twists, turns, suspense and surprises! Legendary still has the game, but it is different.
Unfortunately, Finale lacks some of the magic I love in this series. I miss the game and the performance! It’s something that is so strong in the first book that I really wanted more of it.
In my opinion, the focus of the story shifts so much from the core of the first book that it’s a little disappointing. I guess I’m just a sucker for Legend’s performers and the overall game!
That being said, I’m still quite happy with Finale. The ending is satisfying and things really come together well.
I still recommend this series! It has great writing, incredible characters and lovely worldbuilding. I’m so sad it’s over, but I’m really looking forward to seeing what Stephanie Garber comes out with next!
